| Another few observations, if you don't mind.
I've quit a message board or two, been banned from PA three or four times, once after only one post, and other than a few people that I'd begun to like on some of the boards, I've never missed posting anywhere. I don't like syruppy sweet message boards where everyone just wants to get along, because I know when that happens we just aren't being honest. Nobody likes everybody else, and regardless of how hard we try, now and then someone will get their feelings hurt.
Over the course of the last two years, I've taken my leave of all of the really nasty political boards that I used to post on, and on the boards where I now post, I just try not to say anything that might upset too many people. All that know me know that I have mellowed somewhat in the last year, and that's a good thing, I think. I occasionally will still respond in a bad way to someone that has no brain, but not as often as I once did.
I don't like everyone I see on message boards, and I don't pretend to, but I do like most everyone here. I suppose that's why I keep posting. Some threads I have no interest in, and I don't respond to them. Some of the time people don't get it when I post things that I think are off the wall clever, but I'm used to that, so I just keep on, knowing that the ones who do get it are somewhere laughing their heads off.
I hang around a message board because it's fun, because there are some people I truly enjoy, and because I can both learn and teach. When all of that ceases, I have no problem packing up my bag and taking it on down the road. Aside: Oops, I didn't see Marie's "head of the class" thing. But she's right, some of us would disagree with that. |

| E,Don,
Thank you. You greatly amuse me. You just gave a great motivational speech as to why post on a board anyway.
The boards would be dull without you. |

| Good idea, Don. Now if you could just get country music back to what it used to be. Listening to some of it today, I'm not sure that country music still exists.

| Well, Dick, you won't get an argument from me on that point. I don't listen to modern country noise from the pretty girls and boys. And on the rare occasion that I get on a stage, I keep it real country. Hank, Haggard, and Jones. |

| That's country enough for me, Marie. Dick and Marie, and anyone else, for a real country song, visit my My Space music page and listen to the first song there. It's called ROCK OF AGES, and I gurandamntee it is pure country music. Here's the link. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=327811603 |

| Yes. I have a bunch of country tapes from back when they told interesting stories, the music fell easy on the ears and the lyrics were the equal of any great literature.
Marie, quit worrying about being short. Small is beautiful. You wouldn't want to be one of those wrestling divas on TV. |

| Marie, you left out the best line from Luckenbach. "Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love" I'm thinkin' that's 120% right, for the entire world. |

| The problem was that I wrote it and pitched it just as real country music was about gone, and it's too country for the kids who are in Nashville today. |

| The first key to recovery is forgetting, The second is discovering.
Discovering why you are the way you are.
Childhood is the key to everything. Childhood is not your fault--remenber you were not the boss-- good thing or you probably wouldn't be here thinking about it. You lived through it, now get over it. |

| My you are an obedient bunch. The rule concernng addressing each other has been suspended. I want you to enjoy each other and yourselves. Was your breakfast satisfactory? How was your bed? Your towels will be replaced shortly. In- as -much as there have been no comments on your childhoods-- I am forced to assume you were never children. That is a major relief to me.

| I hit 5'10" when I was 12 or 13, then went to 5'11" and a little over by about 17 or so. Stayed that way for years.
When I had my first heart attack at the age of 43, I stopped smoking and had to go to extensive physical rehab. For some reason I started growing again. I went to a bit over 6 feet tall, and my shoe size increased from a 9 to a 10. Doctor's couldn't explain, and neither can I. I also went from 140 pounds to 195 then dropped back down to 165 and a few years ago I went up to 185. I now try to stay about 177 - 180 which seems to be a good weight for me. |

What more can I ask for? Very well said. Amusing as well. How tall are you? |

Your arch dropped and your foot elongated. Nicotine must have stunted your growth.

| Well, I concede it could have been due to nicotine, alcohol and entirely too many wild, wild women. That combination would stunt anyone's growth. |

"Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love" I'm thinkin' that's 120% right, for the entire world. I live less than an hour from Luckenbach. I drove by there about a year ago, when going with a group of my "church lady" friends on a wine-tasting trip. Luckenbach is just down the road from Sister Creek Winery, which makes a superb pinot noir. At Luckenbach they're more into beer, so we didn't stop there that day. In fact, I think I posted a link to a You-tube video showing the "town" somewhere on this board. It's a peaceful place. Those outlaw boys knew what they were writing about. I'm coming more and more to believe that the simple life is the successful life, as long as it's a choice and not a necessity. Ann |
