It's pretty hard to find, I was lucky enough to find a link in an old email account. I guess forums gave over to blogs, which in turn morphed into Instagram etc. Everything has to give instant gratification these days. Do people still read? Seems to be that only former White House officials get book deals these days.

I typed "Published Authors forum" into google and it came up at the top of the page. Most visitors are looking for advice about agents or self-publishing. The words they use pull up links to posts on the forum.
Kindle has more or less killed the vanity press industry. It's easy to upload a Word file that Amazon converts to kindle format at no charge and gives 70% royalties on ebooks under $2.99, or 35% royalties for ebooks above that price. Even the lower royalties are greater than those on offer from small press publishers. CreateSpace for print books is now under the kindle umbrella, linking the two formats for selling on Amazon.

Amazon has pretty much destroyed the possibility of earning a living as an author alone. Jeff Bezos used the online bookstore to launch his massive electronics platform. If you're not a 'celebrity' for taking your clothes off in the jungle and want to earn a living in the industry, you have to get multi media. I'm still writing, albeit very slowly. On my fourth title now, a complete departure for me, it's called 'The Train Surfer' a coming of age novel about a young man growing up as an orphan in the slums of Mumbai. I have a high hopes for it as a UK actress of some repute has given me permission to use her actual name in the book, despite it being a work of fiction (It is pertinent, but mum's the word ) Just need to get in the right head space 40k words down but after 3 years, I'm forcing rather than flowing. Need to find my mojo. Hope you are well xx

When I wrote Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine, I stopped writing for six months because I didn't know where the second half of the novel was going. I ended up sending the two Planemaker children into space, which took the story in a completely different direction. The last chapter virtually wrote itself. Everything tied in without a great deal of thought. Of course, all the thinking had been done during the six months lay off; I just needed my mind to remind me before I lost the plot!
You're right about Amazon. If you want to make money out of writing, erotica on Kindle is the way to go.
