President Obama is articulate and full of good intentions.
He is unable to do anything because Congress won't allow it
He should bow out of the running.

He has a wonderful wife and two darling daughters.
They could enjoy themselves--why bother with ugly politics?
He is totally wasting the best years of his life.

But Alice, we'll be stuck with Romney and Ryan who will tear apart everything President Obama built and started. That's my fear - and they will tear it down. They do not believe in people with needs only in those above needing assistance.

I'm grateful President Obama is hanging in there; but I agree with you that the toll it's taking is terrible. I do think his family is somewhat shielded and his daughters will benefit - even his wife - in terms of the future if they can survive.

The people deserve Romney.
He deserves the job too,

Let him suffer criticism and derision, He knows everything-- let him show us how it should be done, in 2016 maybe Obama could get somewhere.

I know he would be welcomed back with more than open arms.

But, but, but...aren't we people, Alice? And you?

Four years of Romney/Ryan and Obama might not have anything to come back to. Where would we people be then?

Ready and eager for Obama. In the meantime he would have a life. He can enjoy his daughters and wife.
He will get nothing done if he wins now--so why waste his time?

What will be accomplished with four years of dissension and snipping? I like Obama and would like to preserve him. He can take a break and then maybe be more appreciated. He can even wait until 2020.

I have more faith in the silent majority. I believe in the silent majority. We do have a voice. Our voice will be heard.

All the negativity of the Republican sound bites will bite them in the ass. They will crucify their own party.

Listen to our voice on this forum, alone. I listen to my heart, I listen to the people who talk to me. We are moving, we do have a voice. We are not sheep. We are intellegent people. Our voice is powerful. It needs to be louder. cherry Where are the folk singers, the freedom ranters, the age of aquarius? Where are the college folk? Where are the youth of this nation? Why are they not incited? It is their future we stand up for. Where are they?

Love,

Betty

My Opinion Empty
PostSubject: Re: My Opinion   My Opinion EmptyFri Aug 17, 2012 5:45 pm

Well, as I was composing this ditty, our fwiend Betty said it much better, but I will post my response anyway, being me:

I was visiting my Uncle Tom and Aunt Thelma, one day when I was still in my teens. My cousin Tommy came in the back door. His face was red and he had dirt ground into his skin. His clothes were twisted, but he had a blissful smile on his face. Aunt Thelma asked him what he had been doing, and he said, "Oh, just fightin' wif my widdle fwiends."

So, widdle fwiend, I hope you can see the blissful smile on my face, and know that this is all in fun.

My son the physicist taught me a little bit about chaos theory, and realizing that "a little learning [can be] a dangerous thing," I want to try and repeat what he told me, knowing that I will probably get it wrong, because I am definitely outside my comfort zone where my understanding is concerned. I get this when Dave explains it, but explaining it to someone else is different. I will try - please bear with my ignorance, OK? And take my comments with a strong dash of salt?

Scientifically, in a chaotic situation, matter goes into a state where everything starts dissolving into disorder. If the disorder is strong enough and lasts long enough, the old order will completely dissolve and a new, more stable order will form. But until the last possible moment in the process, there is always the possibility that the old order will regain control and reassert itself. Once it does, the opportunity for change is lost - at least for that round.

Right now, we are on the verge of such a change - a very positive change, I believe. The situation surrounding this next four years, probably much less than four years, is in a precarious position. If the old order manages to regain control, that old order will reestablish itself, and the opportunity for this possible positive change will evaporate.

We are at a crisis point. This country cannot afford to go backwards. The only individual who is in a position to lead us into this newer and better system of order is President Obama. He is very likely to win this election. The old order is desperately attempting to stop that, because they get that we are on the verge of forming a new paradigm, hence the dirty tricks - obviously dirty tricks, because we are beginning to see the light - and are pulling out all the stops.

If Obama were to pull out now, just before we get to the point where we will clearly and quickly move forward, and give the leadership back to the "bad guys" who don't want to lose control, then they very well might be able to reassert themselves, and the opportunity for major advancement could be lost. We would have to start the process all over.

This is only my perspective, you understand. I'm only telling it the way I see it - and my perspective is as limited as anyone else's

Your widdle fwiend Annie.

Gee, Joe, that's the opposite of what I've heard - that neither the party nor Obama see any reason to change a good thing.

Just goes to show that the reporters aren't very concerned with facts, so we need to use our own judgement, and look into everything we see or read, whatever side we are on.

Just me.

It depends whether you get your news from a piece of the media owned by Murdoch or whether you get it from a less biased medium.

Most people love Joe Biden for his earthy and off the cuff remarks that they have come to expect. He is very experienced and capable of providing excellent guidance to the President and the administration.

His occasional gaff is miniscule compared to the bold lies told by members of the Republican Paraty, most recent Paul Ryan who is so afraid to speak since getting on the ticket that he stutters. Each time he does speak, the press catches him in a lie. No wonder he stutters. From Ayn Rand to Medicare, he can't be truthful about anything.

The Murdock controlled press is trying to make Biden look worse than he is because Ryan is so pitiful.

Ann is correct, the only ones calling Biden to step down are the Republicans who are trying to take attention away from the lies told by their Presidential candidates.

Hillary has served this country well for four years; she doesn't need to be second fiddle to anyone.

Check out who owns the local news - it's likely FOX.

Alice, Obama can't stand down. There is the possibility that the people, fed up with our do-nothing, win-at-all-costs Congress, will give him a Democratic majority again. Then his second term can get something done. If Romney wins in that case, it'll be four more years of the administration knocking heads against the Congress and four more years of no progress.

What Al said. Any President to get things done needs the backing of Congress and the Senate. Voting for Representatives becomes as important as voting for the President.

How about this wild idea?

President Obama shocks everyone by withdrawing from the race and casting his support to Joe Biden. Joe picks Barrack for Vice-President. They work together and then Obama returns in 2016. lol! lol! lol!

Ann,

A wonderful day. I have been pinching myself and thanking God I am still alive after 16 years with Parkinson's disease and other ailments.

All I want is for Barrack Obama to have the respect I feel he deserves. I certainly don't think he is getting any now.

Let's look at 4 years down the road. If Obama wins again, and I think he will, (there are a lot of people that still have the common sense to know that Romney/Ryan will spell almost certain disaster for the country) anyway, let's look at the possibility of Hillary running in 2016. She will make an excellent President, however, I'm not sure if she will actually run or not. If she does, then I'll be in her corner, regardless of whom the GOP runs. Which will probably be Jeb Bush. But if Hillary doesn't run, let's hope that Elizabeth Warren does. I won't even begin to tell you about her, but I will ask that you do a couple of searches, see what she stands for, and make up your own minds about her as a candidate.

Sometimes I disagree with you Don, but you do have a handle on the reality of the political situation and the difficulties for governing at the present time. Take a look at my post regarding Grover Norquist.

Our president will not get the respect he deserves because of the historical undercurrent of bigotry in this country that is played into by the funders of the Republican efforts to unseat him. A friend of mine sends me the email defamatory and inflamatory videos and "truth" about the president that only in a free country could be circulated. It is vile stuff.

On his behalf, however, I will say that I imagine his years between birth and the presidency had many challenges and issues of respect and likely accounts for the serene and rational demeanor and sense of humor he portrays - always behaving with dignity. I have enough respect for him to make up for some others. I am proud to be a U.S. Citizen again after eight years of hanging my head and keeping quiet, especially on flights to foreign countries. The moment you opened your mouth with an English speaking foreigner in the next seat, a tirade about the horrible president Bush followed. I didn't speak - I just smiled and burried my head in a book when I traveled.

Tired now. I do hope you are right Don, so many good things have been done for the counry and are in line for implementation to help the country that the thought of the republicans just undoing it all and setting us backward for years - it is a dismal thought.

At what point is it worth it for Obama and his family? He has been put through the grinder for what?
Four more years of this and will he be hale and hearty? The country is getting what it deserves--is he?

He has put in years of work and undergone total disdain. Who says he will be able to do any better in four more years.
The Republicans are not allowing him any leeway. I like him.

I like him too, Alice. He exhibits dignity and his actions have been to help make things better and avoid war.
I hope people realize that if the GOP wins, that we will be in another war. Romney's visit to Israel wasn't just for raising funds, but to promise them that America would back them in a war with Iran.
A sitting President always gets backing when we are engaged in war. Bush knew that and so does Romney. Defense spending creates jobs and makes the rich, richer. What they downplay is that wars cause many people to die. As long as the powerful can sit far away from the action, they really don't care. They also know that deficit spending is accepted in war time.

Vote for Peace, not War.
