Like I said -one person's loss is another's gain. The oyster business is going under, but the cleanupmen-for-hire is booming. Bet they're making 3x what they ever did as oystermen. |

| Temporary clean up jobs; no benefits. You want to walk the beach picking up oil blobs after a fishing career? Obviously, you have never been unemployed and had to take any job just to put food on the table. Any job. The loss of the oyster industry will be very long term. It's a travesty. |

The article said that the oyster company can't find workers because they've all gone to BP. What does that tell you? |

| Doesn't seem like they're losing much. Like shucking oysters is so much better than scooping up tar balls. I see a lot of people making a lot of money out of this. |

| I've seen bull turds in plexiglas with the inscription, "Real Bull". They were great gag gifts.
Some enterprising person may see an opportunity for souvenirs. Collecting bits of the oil/tar and putting it into plexiglas with an appropriate identification of the 2010 Gulf oil spill that washed up on (specific) beach. Numerous slogans about the great oil spill of 2010 It could have world market appeal and be a reminder of the hazards from oil drilling.

| I don't think people would want have that as a souvenir. How much oil can they capture from the ocean? It has hurt tourism in those parts and the environment. |

| Not really sure why some of you think people will make money out of the oil spill. Jobs are lost more like, and BP, I don't think will be the same company again. People were killed. The damage done to the environment and to business there isn't good. Especially tourism and fishing. All depends on the effects of this oil spill and how much oil they are actually capturing. They may not be telling us what really is going on. Also, this spill could have been prevented, but something was not switched on. |

| The leak stops when the underground runs out of oil and the pressure goes down. Their best bet is to try to divert as much as they can into storage containers. Attempts to plug the hole will probably make things worse. All that pressure will spread and create more leaks. Of course they don't know what they're doing. No one has ever had to do this before. |

| There has been oil spills before. This is the biggest spill ever. They are trying to collect the oil and also burning it. They are going to use a relief well. It is testing technology and people as there is just too much oil coming out of there. |

| This recession may last 10 years or more because of the bail out packages and policy by Obama. I heard about this opinion last night. I hope it doesn't last that long or we will not see growth or good periods in the economy for a long time. The U.S economy has a huge affect on the world. This opinion is shocking! The recession is compared to the Japanese economy. It had a recession in the early 90s and did the same thing using stimulus packages, and they have never got out of a slowdown from going into it around 20 years ago. The western governments in Europe are doing the same thing. I guess a positive would be to buy a house. lol. I can't see house prices going up for a while. |

| It could have been a depression--might be yet. Because of? Who would know. Do you listen to Rush or Glen?
Did you ever hear of the great depression? It was unhelped by Hoover. FDR came along and with stimulous packages and it ended. |

| Well actually Roosevelt used all stimulous packages to prop up the economy. It didn't work. Japan did it and it is still in recession now. It does not work. Now, most governments are doing it. |

| What are you on about? So how long do you think this recession is going to last? It won't get better by quick fixes. |

I don't know. It may be unfixable. I seriously doubt CNN, MSNBC or FOX news know either. As long as everyone is freaked out and won't spend a dime--it will persist. Think I will buy something now.

| It may be that there are too many people.
We should get our population under control.
To make older people work until age 70 is a bit much.
The young people need jobs.
When jobs are short and workers abound--what do you do?

Ann True and how about the ones who lived within their means and lost their retirement savings? I would rather spend my money than have it just evaporate. |
