There’s a luxury Raffles resort on our island at least there was until Friday when its closure was announced. Over 150 people lost their jobs (300 are being retained to keep the golf course and landscaping etc going). The island has a population of less than 2,000 and no realistic prospects of other employment. All people can hope for is that the owners of the resort find a new tenant to take it on. This is bound to take many months in the current economic climate.

I'm seeing economic distress here simply because the rising of sea level is eroding the beaches away.
I think next season will be a big make-or-break for a lot of the Caribbean
