| The target audience is, unashamedly, your family and friends. An anthology of this nature is put together for the contributors, who will read one another's stories and poems, share the book with close family (like your daughters) and ask family and friends to buy a copy. The value of the anthology is in reaching an audience you couldn't possibly reach alone. The friendship theme can be mystery, romance, fantasy, sci-fi or any other genre of fiction used to protray the stories and poems. Something for everyone. I've received two short stories and a poem so far. I think this will be a terrific book! |

| Did you ever mention the format you want them in or did I miss that post? If so, please direct me to it so you don't have to repeat yourself. Thank you! |

I'm sorry, I'm no artist so I can't help you come up with more designs, but I'll certainly give my opinion to any others that are submitted. I've added something completely different: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| I like the title. Light and Shade makes me feel as though the stories are not all going to be soppy lovey -dovey stories and poems, that there's be a darker side to the freindship/love poetry and stories. I think that's a good idea. |

| I love number 8 it seems to sum it all up without prejudicing the eye of the beholder as to what exactly it might contain, which in turn could peak the interest of potential readers |

| We have 10 suggestions and, unless someone adds a suggestion, I won't be including anything new. Please continue to rate the covers you like/dislike. You will see a star rating button beneath each book cover. Next week, I will set up a poll for the covers with the best ratings and everyone will be able to vote for the final choice. |

| Is there any chance of having written by World Wide Writers, on the front of the book?
I know you can't have have everybodys name so why not a collective name.
I like the title of number six and the picture and colour is great but I still prefer number 8, as it stands out and that's what you need for a book cover. |

| I did, but for some reason it didn't register. I've done it again.
I like this cover a lot I just think the title needs changing. My comment as to why is posted under the cover.
Thanks, Shelagh |

- No more amazing than you Dick! I know the word count is proving tough but if, out of 50 contributors, 30 wrote short stories of 4,000 words, the anthology would have 120,000 words plus 20 more pages for the poems (one page per 20 contributors). That would be a pretty good volume of work that would make good sales because of the number of contributors.
If the short stories were twice as long (8,000 words) from half as many contributors, the volume would be the same length but with half the number of contributors would make less sales.
Are the word counts based on the number of pages you want the entire book to be? I guess I'm wondering why a person can use what ever pages a 4,000-word story will take up, yet on poems the limit is 24 lines. That is, why are the poems being limited to fewer pages than the longest possible short story? For those of us who prefer writing short shorts, can we send in two stories to claw our way up to the minimum 2,000 number of words for fiction? Curiously, Malcolm |

| I gave this poem as an example of how the poems would be presented: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] One poem per page with a brief bio. You can submit more than one poem and more than one short story. For the anthology to make the most sales, we need at least 50 contributors. If the words averaged at 2,000 per contributor that would be a 100,000 word anthology. At the moment, I have received two poems and three short stories from a total of three contributors. It would be appreciated if members here could invite fellow authors to contribute to the anthology. Thank you. |

Shelagh, that doesn't really sound like the best way to produce a quality book. Will there be any editing done to ensure this book is well done? Also, great job on those cover choices! Kelly Komm ~Canadian Fantasy Author [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Hi Kelly,
It will be a quality book but the quality won't sell it -- that's up to the contributors and the more people are involved the more books will be sold.
As to the editing, from the diverse work I have received so far, it is clear to me that the editing will be minimal and restricted to punctuation (not grammar) and spelling. The contributors work will not be changed and itallicised words, abbreviations etc. will remain as submitted.
I've put edited by on the cover suggestions but that is unlikely to remain.
The best news so far regarding quality is that Aidana has agreed to do the cover for the anthology. Although I appreciate all the help and interest shown by the members here, Aidana's cover design will be accepted and used without any input from any of the contributors. I'm delighted that we now have a professional illustrator doing the cover! |

| I just read the anthology thread and realized the answer was there. Thank you for taking the time to answer me here. I appreciate it. Like I stated above, I have no problem with it. Just missed the initial statement on it.
Thanks again, Shelagh! |

| Karina, I've added your suggestion about "by World Wide Writers" but the title hasn't been decided yet. The wording on the front will be "Stories and Poems about Love and Friendship" and I've removed "edited by..." I'm as curious as you to see the new cover! |
