The concern started in my head well before the election, but I pushed it back. The, my son and daughter-in-law brought it up when the were here in mid-November. From what I've read about the human mind, our hunches come from pattern recognition. Kennedy, at his election, represented a new hope, just as Obama does now. There was much polarization between old and new worldviews, as there is now. Hopefully, we are just seeing parts of an old pattern and worrying needlessly. Chaos theory holds that there has to be a period of disorder when an old, outdated order needs to change, but that eventually, a newer, more cogent system will take its place.

The world is in an apocalyptic mode right now. Sometimes we focus on the problems and fears of the dissolution of the old world, rather than looking forward to the establishment of a new one.

I had such confidence in Kennedy, that even when things got really serious and bad he would find a way. I never thought of him being assassinated and remember my thoughts when the news arrived. "It isn't possible. He is so alive."

Obama is filled with life, but now being older and wiser, I know anything can happen. But I liked the confidence better, the feeling everything will be all right, that our government will figure it out.

Lin, don't you worry about getting caught posting copyrighted material here in the forum without permission?

Just curious. Just seems like something we as writers would be sensitive to.

How about this idea?

Obama is sworn in
He ends the war
He cuts taxes on the poor
He raises taxes on the wealthy
He uses his head, tells the truth
Lives to be 125--dies in his sleep
This is just as possible as your doom and gloom theories and a whole lot more pleasant to contemplate.
