| 5/28/2012 I had to copy this , it broke my heart and to me there's no reason why we still have to be in Afghanistan two more years and loose more great soldiers both men and women, and give Afghanistan millions of dollars ! Joe... |

| We had some very sad news, today, Joe. One of my husband's former students joined the army two years after he graduated. He'd already made it to Captain. He was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. He was twenty-nine:

Shelagh..
See what I mean , this young man killed for what ?
I can see if your country was being attacked, to defend countries
that don't give a dam about us ( USA ) Your country United Kingdom.
Just like 911 , I agree go after the villians but don't get involved in
countries problems, my attitude has always been and always will be
if you elect a dictator or a Murder to run your country then it's up
to you to get rid of them not us. Please accept my deepest
sympathy... Now I've read some top general here in the USA wants
us to get involved in Syria , are they crazy ? It's turning into a civil
war over there and everyone knows Iran is backing Syria !

| Joe, I agree with your comments. Shelagh makes the point. Dead is dead. The question is: For what?
I'm concerned about the rumblings that Israel wants to strike Iran. If that occurs, we will be drawn into another war. As long as people talk to each other, there is no reason to attack. Inuendo and fear of what someone might do is not cause for war. When we were attacked at Pearl Harbor, we had reason to fight back. When we attacked Iraq, they had reason to fight back.
We honor the soldiers who gave their lives in defense of our freedom and security. Sending men and women to fight for political gain or for religious purposes is plain nuts. Those who have seen war or experienced war don't want war. Dick Stodghill saw and experiences war and was against it. His book reveals much.
Others have tried fighting in Afghanistan before we entered the fray. It was stated that we could win battles, but a war in Afghanistan was not winnable. That is true even today. The reasons for our engagement in Afghanistan was Bin Laden. He is dead. Why are we still there? Why are we spending billions? Why are we not spending that money on our own citizens? There is no justification for our being there. Our men and women are in uniform to defend America. Who or what are they defending in Afghanistan? |

| Shelagh,
I am so sorry about your husband's former student. Joe and Abe, you are both so right. We don't need war. |

| I am particularly anti-war because of my brother. Today is his 67th birthday. He was a borderline person, but went completely off the deep end after Viet Nam.
He is not alone. There are those who lose their relatives because they die, then even worse are those who return mentally unstable. It has been 46 long years since we lost him. |

| Germany and France, along with a few other un-named European countries sent Syrian Ambassadors home today in protest of Syrian actions. |
