Memorial Day Empty
PostSubject: Memorial Day   Memorial Day EmptyMon May 25, 2009 12:15 pm

I usually try to attend a Memorial Day service somewhere. This year however, we stayed at home. My youngest daughter Nikki, who is 29, was married in February, her second, to a young man who is a career Air Force small weapons instructor. They have been stationed at Langley in Virginia. Her daugher, our Braxten, stayed with us so she could fininsh school here. Nikki came home a couple of weeks ago and stayed here until school was over, and then today, at noon, they left for their new home in Virginia. I simply don't know what I will do. They've lived with us since Brax was born, and suddenly they're gone. I will manage, but it will not be easy, and I will remember this Memorial Day for more than one reason from now on.

Last year we spent Memorial Day at Andersonville prison in Georgia, where there was a great service, which I enjoyed very much. I'm posting three pictures, one of the color guard, one of the place where the speakers were, and one of me.

It looks beautiful. My youngest just moved out also Don so I know the feeling of having an empty nest. Miss them all especially the grand children.

Great photographs, Don. Beautiful setting, and it looks like a nice service.

Going to take some adjusting to, for them as well as us. Here's photo of Nikki and Braxten. This was Christmas 07, little over a year ago.

I have to agree, of course. They must have taken after your wife. At least they're close enough so you may get to seem them at times.
