"Bald Headed Woman" Empty
PostSubject: "Bald Headed Woman"   "Bald Headed Woman" EmptySun Aug 07, 2011 4:01 pm

Sometimes I do not hear the words of a song correctly. I was driving to town today and a song came on the radio. I was singing along at the top of my voice.

"Bald headed woman! Bald headed woman! More than a woman to me....

I thought that it was a weird kind of lyric to a song.

When I got home, I looked up 'bald headed woman' lyrics.

Blow me down! The Bee Gees. More than a woman."

I imagine the words of lots of songs are sung like I was singing. So, I looked it up.

I not nuts, just deaf.

Love,

Betty

Most of the time the lyrics don't make sense anyway. They are pretty much rhyming syllables in time with the music, repeated often.

I remember my dad years ago saying the songs of the youth (your songs and mine!) were so loud they would make us deaf by the time we were as old as he was. He died at 59, so I've passed him already and can still hear - usually.

Funny, I feel the same about the music today. At least I didn't wear an iPod 24 ours a day booming in my ear and a cell phone on the other....

Every generation says that. I don't know which generation your Dad was from, but the 1920s had loud traditional jazz, the 1930s and 40s had loud big bands, the 1950s had loud rock 'n' roll, and then, in the 1960s things really started going to hell. Smile
