Hypothetical Invitation

You are given the opportunity to invite five people from this forum to an all expense paid meeting in a place of your choosing. What criteria would you choose in selecting those people?

Note: Five is the limit – no exceptions.

No exceptions, eh? Well, well, well, what a dilemma. Supposing that I invite myself, they will have to put up with my company, so the first criterion would be whether or not they would enjoy my company on an all expenses paid get-together.

Second criterion would be ensuring a balance of mixed company. As a female, therefore, I would invite two more females and three males.

Third criterion: I can't think of anything else. I'll be back when I've read a few more replies!

First I would choose London, always wanted
to see it. The five people I would choose ?

1. Shelagh - For her knowledge of Writing
2. Alice - For Her humor
3. Betty - For her great stories
4. Ahad - Foe his knowledge of the universe
5. Abe - For his knowledge of Beirut
Sorry to say I also have to add David, he lives
in London , always loved his wit.

It would be an interesting evening if LC and Lin attended!

People would have to be talkative and open to new ideas.

Place would be at Betty's place. She could hire LC and Lin, Ahad, DK, DT, David, Mike, Rhett, Helen, and Carol to sing for us. Domenic will be the conductor. PA personnel will entertain! Al will play the piano.

Dear Abe,
I would invite 5 people who could invite 5 people and those five could invite five and so on. If the gathering was at my house, it would be a shebang for sure. It would have to be in the late fall after the air cooled.

What the heck. Anyone who wanted to come, could. I would not leave out one soul. You are all beautiful to me.

I'd bet we would have LOTS of surprises though some of you have met already - there's those who post less often - no one mentioned Ahad or DT who would certainly add an intellectual quality and some good conversation topics. E. Don Harpe used to post and Zada and several others. I did meet E. Don and his wife at a conference. Thanks Alice, I missed the entertainment.

I'd love to talk about sailing and world travel. Nobody really wants to anymore. It's like a dream that is no longer part of my life but instead served to develop a character named Melani in a book, Arirang: The Bamboo Connection.

Abe's original though is very like the executive games of who survives in a raft at sea - forcing criteria to select only five. He didn't force us to pick people, though.

Now way I could eliminate it down to five. I won't even try. My party will include everybody or I won't have one.

The hunky males are at the fire station in Bonita Springs posing for the charity calendar. Wow, where's that waste basket in a safe place for a fire?

I had snakes at 2:00 a.m. once and four policeman came, guns drawn, ax in hand. At 2:00 in the morning, they looked pretty good too. Even my 90 year old mother thought so. She found the second snake later while they were still in the driveway having a two-car convention.

Not sure about this forum; so far the avators are questionable as to who the actual authors might be in reality.

Interesting responses. I didn't ask for names for the obvious reasons. Excluding someone doesn't mean dislike.

With five people, I would want to be associated with those where we have something in common. Being an author is a given.
An example: DK is well-travelled with multi-cultural experience. Don served in the military and has a background in computers. I would select others based on some commonality or special quality that interests me.

With a large group, getting to know each person well is not possible.

This is almost beginning to sound like that TV show "Survivor".

Except instead of who gets kicked off, it is who gets to go.
