| I've completed the first pass at a low-key web site about GARDEN OF HEAVEN while the novel is making the rounds of publishers and agents.
You're all invited to stop by when you get a moment and take a look: http://www.gardenofheaven.net/
If any of you know Oprah, ask her to stop by and say "Yes, this will do well for my next book club pick."

| Great idea to set up a pre-release site Malcolm! Hope your book goes flying off the shelves! |

| I'm the old-fashioned kind of writer, Dick, who works on stuff forever.
Thanks, Pam. Maybe the thing will end up flying off the shelves because it's haunted.

| Dear Malcom, I have Oprah's mailing address somewhere around here. She or her staff have 6 copies of Wooffer. Such an illusive dream she is! I wish you better connections. Love, Betty |

| Betty,
Six copies, eh? Well, maybe you to visit her show and run up on stage and ask what the hold up is.

| Good work Malcolm. Are you, by any chance, a big Tolkien fan? |

| Malcolm, I like your creativity with promotion. Doing the unusual or unexpected gets attention. Of course we expect a sequel called, "The compost of Hell." |

| I like the way you set up a pre-pub site. Very informative and interesting. Makes me want to buy the book and I am not that way on most sites.
BTW I just got finished reading The Hero With a Thousand Faces. So that is two affirmations for me on the book. Think I need to take it out of the library again.
You do great work! |

| Thanks everyone, for taking a look. I just finished adding a page of links today, so the thing will evolve.
I like the "Compost of Hell."
Yes, Shelagh, I do like Tolkien. But I'm not dedicated enough to dream up an entire new language for my characters.
I appreciate the kind words!

| Intriguing, Malcolm. I especially liked the last couple of sentences. Have you considered posting a few paragraphs of the first chapter? |

Malcolm I used to have access to Oprah's address and phone when I worked for the airline ... but that is considered proprietary information. And I no longer work there anyway. Sorry. Oh, but my sister in law's sister know Chris Gardner and he was Oprah when that Will Smith movie about him came out ... I'll let you know. Me? I'd rather get my novels promoted by Disney, look what they did for High School Musical and Hannah Montana. |

| Well, Hannah certainly did make a splash, though with Miley's first album out under her real name getting panned, we'll see if she can make the transition to an adult star.

| Brenda,
I know a lot of people post first chapters, but so far, I've been too lazy to go that route. My chapters tend to be exceptionally long, so I would have to think about putting part of a chapter up there.
Food for thought.
Malcolm
P.S. What's the max size of a message. I tried to post part of a chapter here but I kept getting a response saying THE MESSAGE IS TOO BIG. |

| Brenda,
Following your wise advice, I posted the book's prologue on the site as a PDF file here:
http://www.gardenofheaven.net/gardencuttings.html
This might have actually fit on the forum, but I thought maybe those coming to the website might want a larger sample.
Thanks for the idea.

| You know time has passed you by when there are lengthy conversations about people you never heard of. Will Gardner, Frank Smith, Mily Wiley, where will it end? |

I like your magical world. |

I'm with you, Dick. I see some of those names and go "Who the hell is that, and why should I know about them?" And who is the gal who has a program about being on the b list? What on earth is that all about? It must be of world shaking importance to be on tv so much. I seem to be lost in space again!! I think I will just hang out here and not worry about it. Most of TV is garbage anyway. |
