PostSubject: Glad to be Alive   Glad to be Alive EmptySun May 12, 2013 1:58 pm

Mother's Day is so wonderful. Only the good things you did are remembered or at least mentioned. After reading a glowing recital of the high points of our times, written by our daughter and placed on Facebook, we: Hubby, Son, Daughter-in-law, Mother-in-law, Baby and I went out for a delicious and scenic brunch at the Mt St Golf Course.
Son and Daughter-in-law gave me a gorgeous gardenia plant and Amazon gift card.
Mother-in-law gave me beautiful Gerbera Daisies.
Hubby gave me red roses and took me to Molbak's Nursery for some more plants.
It was there that the murder attempt began.
A man, certainly not a gazelle or a ball room dancer plowed into me. I was totally shocked --after all my hair is fire red. I am 5' 10" tall and attired in hot pink pants a wrinkle free black shirt, pearl necklace and platinum wedding ring set, also a diamond studded wrist watch.
He did not so much as give me an I am so sorry look.
We checked out and BAM there he was again.
He even bashed into Dave too. There were plenty of things/tips I would have liked to share with him such as:
People with canes usually have balance problems give them some space.
It might pay to look where you are going.
Fortunately, he di not run us over in the parking lot.

Just a thought , Alice. Maybe he had balance problems too. Okay, maybe not. People in stores are very unforgiving. Before my husband's hip replacement operation, his hip locked while he was standing at the check-out. He apologised to the person standing behind him and said he was sorry but he just couldn't move. He received a look as if to say: Just get out of the way. No one has a minute's time these days.

I think there is a "rude" epidemic. Ever get caught in the rush to a newly opened check out line? Ever start through a door only to have a man push through ahead of you? Ever have anyone take the very cart on which you have your hands? Or push you away from the freezer door in the grocery? How about how people spread out when you are squished in the airplane middle seat?

I agree that people are in a rush. How much time do they save by being rude? Not enough.

Wow, Alice. I wonder if he made it home? I am glad that you and your family did.

My daughter in law saved me gerber daisy seeds from her plants. They will ( if they grow) be part of the mix for the florist I hope to sell flowers to.

David and I went to his mothers where he fixed their lawn mower. My kids came out yesterday because there are too many mother's day events to fit all into one day.

I am making fajitas and stir fried yellow squash with seeded jalapenos and yellow and orange bells to go with the beans and all the stuff that goes with fajitas.

I am glad you have a loving family, too.

Love,

Betty

Shelagh, I am sorry for what happened to your husband. This man was just rude and a great reason I avoid shopping. Once in Harrod's a man, not an Englishman, pushed me out of the way as we got to bottom of an escalator.
I told him, "Don't do That you might kill me." His response was to blame me for stopping and hesitating. I now use a cane to warn folks I am impaired.

DK, Joe and Betty, I hear you.
