Shelagh, maybe a different approach is needed. Do you want to write or do you want to be published? They're actually two different goals. If the latter, write stuff that publishers want to publish. Clearly it isn't your novels (and don't take that wrong -it's not a criticism, just an observation). What about nonfiction? It's so much easier to get that published.

There's no room for hurt feelings in this business or for nursing wounds and grudges. It's not profitable. I was turned down by Wiley three times and vowed (right here on this board, lol) I'd never submit to them again. So what am I doing now? Writing a Wiley book. There's no money in pride.

LC, what you say makes good sense. I think we all go through moods and I can empathize with Shelagh. I haven't quit writing, however I won't write for the sake of writing. If I am inspired or find something that interests me to write about, I'll be back in the saddle again.
What I intend to do is brush up on what I have already written. When I get my rights back, very soon, from PA, I will re-write and submit is as new material. The hard work is already done. Some polishing together with the feedback received may do the trick. My first book is non-fiction.

I want to be read. The money is not my reason for writing.

Does Wiley republish books?

No idea, I never asked them. They only publish nonfic, though, as far as I know. They publish textbooks and also own the Dummies and Frommer's imprints.

I will check them out. I only write non-fiction.

I asked information at Wiley if they republished books? I told them my nonfiction book contract which had won its publisher's award was expiring in July of 2013

and told them, it was Peas, "Pills" and Parkinson's available on Amazon.

We will see what they say.

Ok. I would have handled that differently, but let us know if you get a response.

I don't expect one today.

No, I said that I would finish writing by the end of 2012. I had eight poems published in various places and wrote two more to make up a thousand words. That's it. I won't be going back on my word. I don't want to write stuff that people only want to read if it's free, and I don't want to write nonfiction.

Shelagh, I'm sure that you will do what is best for you. Only you know what that is. I wish there were more books coming, but that is a selfish wish.

Whatever you choose to do, you will do well.

I am beginning work on a new cover, too. I get my rights back for A Myth in Action next month, and even though PA used the cover design that I suggested to them, mostly, I think I want a new look.
