Thank you! Everyone helped me to reach a higher standard! We need encouragement and criticism in equal measures. I didn't work hard enough on the first; the second was not much improvement ... but the last one (which took longer to design than the time spent on the first two put together!) showed the extra time spent was worth the effort. Ya gotta go the extra mile, ya know?

Yes. And this is why I get annoyed at people who are dismissive about the work involved in cover design and interior design of a book (formatting, layout). It's not easy, it's time consuming, and you have to know what you're doing. I have little interest in learning those skills myself. I'm better at criticizing the end result, lol.

I love the last one. I thought the first was a little insipid, without statement. I like the last one best. It insinuates reflection and beauty of thought and word....which is what poetry is to me.

Because it's 2013 and time to move on. The Internet is awash with novels that are only really enjoyable for the authors themselves -- not as reading matter, but as writing matter -- and they only really matter to those who wrote them. I'm not giving up without having given the stories I've written a chance to succeed. The books are there for anyone who might be interested in reading them; it's just that I won't be writing any more.
