| I'm lucky to live in a country where the average Joe Soap (John Doe) does not live in fear of dying at the hands of a gunman. Although, of course, it does happen occasionally. However, more children are killed on the roads every day than die from gunshot wounds. That's something we need to address. With enough thought and effort, we should be able to reduce child road deaths to zero. It's something worth aiming for. |

| Alice, I don't think you can get a response to your question since there is none.
I think the term "assualt" is self-explanatory. |

| Abe, On TV The interviewers ask this and never get an answer except one gun store owner who infuriated Pierce Morgan by saying, "They are fun." Fun for whom? Couldn't they forgo their " fun" in favor of life for kids? Good plan, Joe. |

| There are regulations for car safety. There is training for drivers and licensing required. Give the same regulations for guns.
Cars also polllute. There was a big outburst about smoking and how it affected others with second hand smoke. What about auto pollution? Have you ever sat at a sidewalk cafe with heavy traffic? The carbon monoxide from autos can be deadly.
It is a question of how much attention we give a subject before action is taken. The action doesn't usually eliminate or eradicate the problem, but it does help to curb it. |

Explain to me why in the UK, where guns are banned, they don't have much gun trouble. LOL |

1972
Other Weapons and Explosives Terms
automatic, carbine, cudgel, muzzle, rapier assault rifle
noun (Concise Encyclopedia) Military firearm that is chambered for ammunition of reduced size or propellant charge and has the capacity to switch between semiautomatic and fully automatic fire. Light and portable, yet able to deliver a high volume of fire with reasonable accuracy at modern combat ranges of 1,000–1,600 ft (300–500 m), assault rifles have become the standard infantry weapon of modern armies. Their ease of handling makes them ideal for mobile assault troops crowded into personnel carriers or helicopters, as well as for guerrilla fighters engaged in jungle or urban warfare. Widely used assault rifles are the U.S. M16, the Soviet Kalashnikov (theAK-47 and modernized versions), the Belgian FAL and FNC, and the German G3.http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/assault%20rifle

| I agree. Thanks Shelagh for the research. Ban assault rifles. Period. The gun manufacturers need their sales to the Mexican cartels. Profit is the issue. Just like the drug kingpins live in Palm Beach and contribute to their churches and communities, the gun manufacturers live nice normal lives while their products murder. |
