Suggestions/opinons

I'm looking to write a crime novel but the one thing thats proved to be a bit of a stumbling block at the moment is the title. Its based around a former detective who is at a bit of a low point in his life and he's presented with an opportunity to get himself "back in the saddle" so to speak. The ones that have made the shortlist so far are

The Wake Up Call
Honour Amongst Nobody
Last Witness
Never Lost
Beyond Reason
The Fire Inside
Darkness Rising
One Step Closer
A Light In The Shadow

There is one in particular that seems to be edging away as the favourite but any opinions/feedback would be appreciated.

I like " Darkness Rising " sounds great to me. The title

would peek my interest...

I like Last Witness and The Fire Inside.

By the way, sometimes a title just presents itself in the middle of writing or at the end; or the title you start with does not work later.

What DK said. Unless the book is written around a title, then it is best to wait until the book is finished, the title will present itself.

Like Joe, I like Darkness Rising. But I also like A Light in the Shadow a lot. (Beyond Reason strikes too close to home as I suspect my wife will have that engraved on my tombstone.) Of course, you can always write nine terrific books and use them all!

I think Darkness Rising sounds intriguing.

I've started from scratch on this project but still leaning towards one particular title for the opener, as long as the first book takes off then there will most likely be follow ups, maybe even a prequel! Still interested in your opinions though and appreciate the input from you all.
