How Can we Get More People to Post?

I hate to see the forum dwindle,

How can we get it in high gear again?

We only had eight posters today.

Ideas?

Irritation has caused many posts in the past, however I don't recommend that negative course of action. Controversal subjects get good reaction.

Posting always drops off in September. At first, I thought it was because of the US elections. Whatever it is, it happens every year.



March is always the biggest posting month.

What do you suggest?

Is your question about getting current posters to post more, or about getting new posters? If the former, I think we're humming along ok. Folks get busy and message boards take a back seat. If the latter, more writing topics would probably help. I'd like to know what projects people are working on, efforts made to get them commercially pubbed, or technical steps and processes in uploading them to the various self-pubbing sites. The pros and cons of those sites. How people find inspiration, motivation, time management, etc.

Maybe we should ask Lee. As a new member, she might have a more objective perspective. Of course, Lee, if that puts you in an uncomfortable position, that's understandable. We are just glad to see a new person who is eager to share her thoughts as well as her work.

Hey Ann and Crew!

Interesting….since I am a risk taker by nature from NY and the newest author on the block I find it very interesting that more people “view” instead of post or reply. I am surely willing to be visible as I seek the camaraderie of all of you!

How about a forum that challenges us to POST the greatest or worst moments as writers? Now for those of us that will take the dare and actually post….should prove to be enriching, enlightening and a true learning experience.

You may start your own thread with that as the title...I'll post :-)

I think it is very hard for a new person to just start flapping their gums on a new forum. Most people lay back a little, put out a little line, kind of like fishing, and see if there are people who understand their thought. Some just cast out their spam and never look back to see if some one saw their offering.



Those are the people who post, and post, and post, and never make a personal connection to anyone....kind of like a fly by post...I equate them with snipers that never hit anyone



To me, the best way to enter a forum is to address a post that interests you. Put your heart into your post, give a little of your self.



Talk is what it is all about. Talk and write. Let yourself loose!

Just a word of caution, though. Everything posted is forever; forums are subject to the Google searches. What you say here may be posted there....

1. With the writing of your first novel, what was your biggest concern?

2. What were your expectations?

3. Once published, what did you do first?

Difficult questions, Abe. I have never written a novel. My mother was so against fiction she wouldn't even let me read it.

I disagree. I have "Living by the Swamp" on my desk now. I like looking at the cover, and from time to time I open it and read a few paragraphs. It still reminds me of my own past living by a swamp.
