I read people are leaving.
I have left and returned.
It is an interesting place- but is getting very predictable.
I spend less and less time there.
I enjoy looking at photos
I wonder at what some people will post though.

Dear Alice,
I do not have time for it. I was getting fifty or more notifications a day on my email. Today, I unsuscribed for these messages.

I like email but since Facebook, my family does not write to me on email. I think most people must like being in a crowd and kind of included in everyone's conversation. That is not me.

Love,
Betty

Alice,
No one can judge by my behavior. I was not ever a fan of facebook. It was probably my loss, but I really do not have the time to address all the people who are friends of people who are friends of people I know slightly or came across in my internet travels. Strangers they are to me.

That is just my selfish me.

Love,
Betty

Facebook has its uses. I avoided it at first, preferring Myspace, but since they changed for format on myspace, I hate it. Pages don't load properly, everything's different and I just lost interest in it and moved to Facebook.

Facebook is fine as long as you don't take it too seriously. At the end of the day it's just the internet. But I've known plenty of situations that started as silly arguments on there, but which escalated into face to face confrontations. There was even a street fight in Portsmouth Hampshire that was the result of aggro someone started on facebook.

I have a Facebook account.
But I am not on it very much.

I mostly have it to keep in touch with my family.

I don't post that many photos because I just don't like having too much of my personal life (and especially photos of my grandkids) "out there".

But it is great for sharing news and just saying "hi" since my family is scattered all over the the country ... and globe.

I think the trick to Facebook is having "friends" whose activities you actually care about. I have 58 friends, and every one of them are people I'm interested in (from greatly to marginally). I have de-friended people I lost interest in, and declined friend requests from those I hardly know.

Even with just 58 friends, I see plenty of what Betty described -likes of friends of friends of friends, none of whom I care about, and whose likes I care even less about.

People with friends lists of 500+ are not acquiring friends, they're acquiring promotional lists.

Sometimes friends have a need to tell all too.
I don't need to know every ache and pain one has.
Just the interesting things.
I don't take friends of friends.

Good to know I'm not the only one who is not a facebook fan.
I am participating less everyday. I just changed the setting so I don't get an email when someone responds to a post.

Can't fathom why anyone would WANT to be notified each time a post is answered. I unchecked every single box; I don't want to be notified about anything. I'll see it when I get there. Same goes for this board -no way do I want an email each time someone responds to a post. Smile

My phone or iPad (whichever I'm carrying) "dings" each time an email arrives. I don't want 50 junk dings an hour.

Facebook and Myspace will be replaced by the next wave of networking. I can't predict what that will be or how soon it will happen ... but it will happen.
