Facebook might have been spoken of here before, but I joined last week and am having a very good time there.

My cousin invited me and said she had some photos there. I joined to see the photos. That was worth the joining since the photos and the people in them were beautiful.

Anyway, my sister-in-law was visiting and invited me to be her friend from her laptop on the couch five feet away from mine. Then her daughter, my niece, friended me, as well as my other sister-in-law, and then my daughters found out from mutual friends that I had joined and became my friends. Next there was a granddaughter.

I asked my oldest grandson to be my friend, and then his fiance asked me to be her friend. I found out all sorts of nice things on his facebook place, like that my two daughters, his aunts, had wished him a happy birthday last week.

I had avoided asking my other grandson and granddaughter to be friends as I thought I might "cramp" their style. But my grandson, who is a genius (fact not bragging) then asked me to be his friend. When I went to his "facebook page" I discovered he is a regular university student with lots of friends and social activities and has an absolutely gorgeous girl friend. He had photos from Thanksgiving at my house on his facebook page, given him by my daughter, his Aunt Peggy.

In 1985-1986, a foreign exchange student from Australia came to live with us and I get her daily messages of what she is doing.

I know I could email these people, but I'd get nice little messages and not lots of photos and what they are doing and thinking.

My granddaughter who is a junior in high school has not asked to be my friend yet. She is probably going, "Oh no, not Grandma on facebook!"

I couldn't help but think that all these people were emailing each other with, "OMG, Mom (Grandma) is on facebook! Watch what you put on your facebook page!"

Marie,

I loved my family's facebook pages. I still haven't checked out all the photos.

I knew these people were great people, but looking at this piece of their lives is fascinating, from a grandma and mom standpoint, but also from an author standpoint.

I'm also on Facebook. Not sure if it helps sell books, but it's kind of fun.

You can find me there at: http://profile.to/malcolmcampbell/

Facebook is what you want it to be. My co-author is only on there for fun, so I know not to discuss business with her there. Only jokes, apps and such. I block most of the apps and things because I am on there to make contacts and promote things. I have made a lot of friends, not just in numbers, but in the heart as well. It has not only worked as a business outlet, but a social one as well. For some reason I can't seem to get into MySpace, but I know Malcolm does terrific there. *smile*

I was invited to Facebook by my neice. She has collected old family photos and posted them. Many family members now belong and there is much chatter. With everyone living so far apart, it is a good way to keep in touch.

I'm on Facebook too, and it's a great way for me to keep in touch with friends and family - as well as some of my business contacts (I have different privacy settings for those folks). It is also the one way my Mum gets to my blog (she has a hard time with blogger, but can link to blog posts or just read them right there in my notes section. Like Sue, I don't add many applications (except when someone twists my arm), or it seems like a brilliant idea at least for a while.
You can find me by going to this link, and I'd be happy to have you meet me there!
