Should we build more nuclear plants ? I don't think so. First off they have one in New York State that's called Indian Point built on a earth quake fault. Just heard California has two built on earth quake faults...Very dangerous. As a scientist just said in a TV interview, you can't taste , smell nuclear fall out. He also said that it takes several years before someone gets ill from it, just like in the 911 attack, people caught up in that toxic cloud, guess what several thousand people have died from cancer, including rescue workers. I say dis-ban all nuclear plants, find a better way before we have a tragedy in this country...
Cheers..Joe |

| No nuclear. Yes to "wave power," "wind power" in places where it does no harm to people or the environment,"solar power" where it doesn't take more energy to make the solar units than they save in energy, and "yes" to all the inventions that have been purchased by big oil to stop competition with their cash cow. |

| Joe,
I think we will have about destroyed the earth by 2012. We had best begin now to undo the damage. |

| No to nuclear plants. There are alternatives. I think we must blitz the I-Net with information about alternatives and send emails to our representatives in congress. With enough input, they may eventually be forced look into it.
It is becoming a big issue in Germany and will influence upcoming elections. The people are on the side of "no nuclear". Politicians who favor continuing the existing plants will lose. It took the disaster in Japan to bring more attention to this subject. It is sad that people must die before action is taken. |

| I'm for nuclear power, in general, but not with the current technology we have. The future is in pebble bed reactors. These are radically different from what we use todday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pebble_bed_reactor |

I totally agree. No other power source yet discovered by humanity comes quite as close. Long term colonization of outer space can only be meaningfully achieved through nuclear power as I discussed many years ago: http://groups.google.com/group/sci.space.policy/browse_thread/thread/8460d26cb170df8/1b94684eea8ff41e?q=nuclear+detonations+in+outer+space |

| The only reason power is generated in such high voltages is due to the distances needed to send the supply. If every house had a wind generator and solar panels. If domestic voltages were reduced to 12-24 volts. It would be possible to live without the need for massive nuclear plants. Manufacturing needs could be met by larger wind farms, wave generators and other safe methods. |
