I've noticed the math/music connection fairly often. My son is an example. He is as good a musician as he is a physicist.

Quote :
"Plato's philosophy shows us one way to combine science and religion,"
Kennedy says. "The culture wars we're having today — about evolution for
example — see science and religion as two polarized opposites. Plato's
hidden philosophy shows us that he combined an emphasis on mathematics
with an emphasis upon beauty, music, art and divinity. The founder of
western culture, in fact wanted us to combine science and religion."

What would Dan Brown do with this one?

Dear Ann,
I once wrote a paper on "The Roll of Friendship in Love" according to Plato and Aristotle. I wonder if I could find that somewhere. I was so young then. I will have to rattle my old brain.

Love,
Betty

Betty,

I sometimes wonder why we bother to consider more recent philosophers. There is hardly anything that those two Greek gentlemen didn't set us straight on.

I would truly love to hear more of your paper, my friend.

Very interesting Ann.
The more we study/read good books, the more we see that we missed on the first round.

I've read Plato.

I refer to Plato's Symposium, specifically what he philosophized regarding soulmates, in my novel "Julianne's Wish".

It comes across as rather romantic for my novel.

But the guy's thinking is actually weird.

He claims that mankind used to have two heard, four arms, four legs, and both male and female genitalia. And the gods fearing our strength cut us in half.

That's why we now only have one head, two arms, two legs, and only one sex.

Now to hook up with our soul mate.
