No Home and Gardens would be complete without a recipe section.

Tomorrow at our weekly family gathering, I will be making a couple of recipes that I got from my Whole Foods iphone app, which are also on their website:

Pork Tenderloin in Ancho-Tomato Sauce
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/1112

and
Grilled Corn Salad with Green Beans and Tomatoes
http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/2558

I will add some Texmati Brown Rice for the sauce.

Ann..

Sounds good to me, I have to try it.
I love black beans and rice. I used to get
here in Santa Fe, Black beans with Chiles,
now I can't find it...

I like simple stuff that tastes good. No big hoopla.

Buy those big long packs of spare ribs at the Walmart. Cut them in half and freeze.

I say that because I only have two people to feed.

Thaw one half out.

Put the gas grill on high, all four burners, until the grill is around 450 degrees.

On the right hand side of the gril, put the thawed ribs. Let them brown on one side then the other.

Turn off all the burners except the left two. let the ribs cook under the hood until tender at 350. Put them in a glass baking pan, pour on the duck sauce. Cover and put in the oven to warm for a while.

Love,
Betty

Betty,

Yum!

Joe, I added black beans and green chilis to the rice tonight. I understand that in the Yucatan the dish was called Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians because it combined black beans with white rice) - sprinkled some chopped scallions over before serving.

I guess I can recommend the recipes. There were no leftovers. Bummer. I was all ready to make some pork fajitas for lunch tomorrow.

The pork tenderloin was especially good, and much easier that the directions sound.

We are so used to reconstituting ancho chilis around here that it seems like nothing, but if you want an easier way, and can get some ancho chili powder, just use it instead.

Anchos are the chilis used in traditional enchilada sauce, so another way to come close and make it easy would be to combine a can of tomatoes with a can of enchilada sauce.

However you make the sauce, the pork comes out very tender and full of flavor.

Do try it.

Ann...

That sounds great. Here's a dessert
recipe, very easy to make and I guarantee you
there won't be any left over, you can omit the
grape juice...You can use any fruit on top, this
is my favorite ...

Cheers.. Joe
