Stodghill’s Recipe for Broccoli
1) Place broccoli into a biodegradable sack. 2) Take shovel and find a place in garden for digging. 3) Dig hole large enough to accommodate sack. 4) Cover hole with soil. 5) Pack tightly by stomping on it. 6) Return to house and pour yourself a drink.
(Add next Recipe here:)

| Dick's recipe for brocolli: Burn to the groud any store carrrying brocolli Was the mouth out with soap of anyone saying the noxious word. Rescind all farm subsidies to brocolli growers. He can smoke his pipe and enjoy a brocollli free world. I propose the same recipe for peas with the following modifications: Burn to the ground any store which has ever carried peas. Shoot before sunrise anyone who would dare to advocate the ingestion of peas. Thanks Abe--great thread! |

| Back to my "do not eat list."
I finally told the nurse giving me my blood test I was going to eat salads and whatever else my body was craving.
So she said, "Just so you don't eat brussel sprouts."
"No chance," I said, "I hate brussel sprouts."
Same recipe for these little cabbage things as the broccoli and peas.
Love, Carol |

| Oh for the love of Pete!
Just send the broccoli, peas, and brussel sprouts to me!!!
I love all those veggies.
I will also take the carrots, green beans, bell peppers, and spinach.
If you really want to bury something in the ground and stomp on it ... do it to the OKRA!!!

| Grilled Carp (Goes great with Broccoli or Brussel Sprouts) 1. Skin and filet one large carp 2. Pour ½ cup Chuavo 1800 in large snifter 3. Squeeze half of a small lime into snifter 4. Preheat grill to 400 5. Wash a small cedar plank 6. Place filet on cedar plank 7. Place both on grill 8. Grill until edges of plank begin to char 9. Remove from grill 10. Throw carp in garbage 11. Place cedar plank in fireplace 12. Sip from snifter and enjoy the fire |

| Don, like your recipe, but I have never had carp, much less on a plank! But I am not real fond of catfish (I know, I will catch heck for that!). I am with JoElle. I'll take the veggies. Brussel sprouts are as close to cabbage as I get, though! |

| Don't start dissing okra again. You know how I get about my okra....
I'm with JoElle. I love the vegies. Love all of them except for raw celery. |

| If you slice celery very, very thinly (wafer thin) and add to any creamed cheese or cottage cheese, it makes a delicious sandwich. Add a little grated mature cheddar (Canadian) for extra bite. |

| Don, that was great. I suppose those of us who don't like a particular green can always make up for it by putting an olive in the drink. |

| I was wondering the same thing, Alice. Is there any difference? And how can you expect to grow up big and strong without your veggies, Dick? |

| Zada,
Dick is proof posiitive that peope do not need hideous green leafy or otherwise vegetables to grow to be strong and long-lived.
My dad never ate salad--he was a potato and gravy and bread type guy. He liked fig bars, danish pastries, banannas and cornflakes.
He was very strong and survived terrible car accidents and a bad woods accident.
Mom ate vegetables, made me eat vegetables and died at 74. My dad died at 82. |

Which stuff are you referencing? Shelagh's food is very well presented--beautiful in my opinion. |

| My dad was a steak and potato man. He would pick at a salad but really didn't enjoy it. He was allergic to tomatoes.
He died of colon cancer at the age of 52.
Last night I listened to Dr. Dean Adell on the radio. A caller asked him about vitamin supplements. He said that they are completely worthless, and we should get all the vitamins we need from our food. Not sure if I agree with that or not. |

| Brew,
He is qute knowledgable, but I am with you on this one. I much prefer an all purpose vitamin to worrying and fighting with kids over food choices.
Our daughter is 37 and has yet to have a cavity. I allowed the kids to eat candy, and chew gum, so it had to be the vitamin that made the difference

| I must confess. I do like greens. I could eat an entire meal of salad. Years ago I went to a restuarant in Memphis called the "House of Salad." Every imaginable combination served in a wooden trough - like a pigs trough. It was great! I wondered when it would catch on. Sometime later "Salad Bars" began to appear in restuarants with the option to just have the salad bar.
Salad and other vegetables are healthy provided they are not contaminated by insecticides. I prefer home-grown greens that I know are free of contaminates.
Yes I eat broccoli. Now I'm on Dick's short list. |
