I don't think it has anything to do with the boy-raper priests not being allowed to consort with women, because they are two different types--the pedophiles who like the boys and the narcissistic ones who go after other men's wives. Two different, yet just as despicable as the other. Both ruin the lives of many, many people.

I think if the church would allow priests
to marry maybe all this crap would stop, then
again the church has a long history of scandal
going bacl 1000 years , I think they'll cover it
up like they always do....

Allowing priests to marry wouldn't change things, in my opinion. Protestant religions allow their ministers to marry, yet that doesn't stop them from going after other men's wives.

The priesthood is a perfect hideout for pedophiles--not only do they have access to altar boys but also the new recruits.

The power imbalance of this profession makes it easy for them to take whatever their pleasure is at the moment--boys or girls.

I agree with you Helen. Priests are not necessarily more trustworthy than the average person.

It's probably more a factor of those that already have that inclination finding a place that facilitates it.

Duh. Has it occurred to you that if priest were allowed to marry (like in other denominations that aren't plagued with these huge masses of homopedophile abuses) that maybe they might have more normal outlets, and that priests without wives who bird-dogged choirboys would stand out a little in the crowd?

It's part of a culture of homophilia. You don't see these sort of statistics in other sects.
