Domenic...

I don't know what you have against
Alice, I've known her for 5 years, she's nice and down
to earth, I believe we're all here to enjoy each other's
company, help each other, so what's the problem ? Alice
you are welcome to come back, we need your humor ! I
get the feeling certain people who come on these boards
try to force their opinions on others ! And you know who
you are .....

No, you don't understand, Domenic. Members leave of their own accord. They give excuses for leaving. If I use any of the moderating tools, some members use that as an excuse to leave. If I use none of the moderating tools, some members use that as an excuse to leave. If members disagree with one another, they use that as an excuse to leave.

The members who leave are the strongest-minded group of people you are ever likely to encounter. You could not force them away if they wanted to stay.

I set up the forum at the request of a few members of the Published Authors Network -- they wanted a more traditional forum. One member also requested a place to upload book covers. This forum seemed to be the answer at the time. Hundreds of book covers have been uploaded to the gallery and members have made more than 55,000 posts on over 3,800 topics.

If the board survives, sobeit. If it doesn't, I'll have a lot more time to do other things.

Yeah, there's the good reason and the real reason for everything. Not just message board posting.

Joe, I have nothing against Alice. I told her after her comments on page one..."I did not want dialogue with her." I have told her this in the past.

Alj...I am not forcing myself onto Alice...nor you.

Shelagh, I understand there are those here who just want to talk about writing, and some who just want to talk. I agree both should be able to do what they want. All I'm saying is..."those who just want to make small talk, not side-track threads about writing." Alice takes every opportunity to do so...followed by her friends...and I know that is why some have left.

Published Authors is either a writers forum, or just a chat room. If it's both, they should not mix.

All forums have a board where members can chat about anything and everything. You set up this thread about the WIP board and wondered why it is used so infrequently. You and I responded to a post on the WIP recently, but the person seeking help has yet to respond to our comments. We agreed with one another, so the advice was worth taking on board. It certainly deserved a response.

One of the members of the Published Authors Network group on LinkedIn has just left the group. She deleted so many of her posts (twenty-eight on just one thread) that she seems to have crashed the whole system. LinkedIn are busy trying to fix it at the moment. This is standard behaviour on message boards -- I deleted many of my posts over at Absolute Write. I wouldn't go to the bother these days. With time, we learn about what is important and what isn't. We also learn when to respond and when to just let things go.

We are all here to enjoy ourselves,
there are many boards for writing, discussions and
yes chat, many of know one another for many years.
So if you find Alice offensive, that's your problem not
ours....As anyone here can tell you Alice is a fine
decent human being....So we shall chat on, the writing
boards are listed the other way ...Oh yes, why are you
a guest and not a member ?

Evidently I too write, but I also
enjoy boards where I can let go, take time off
from writing....Meet my friends and enjoy their
company , that's what the chat board is for. The
writing boards ar on other pages here...

Furthermore this is a Published Authors forum. The reason we have been uanble to get rid of Alice is because she has a book in print. It is not a NYT best-seller, but it did win an award.

Also she somehow managed to bamboozle writers such as Lane, Dick, E.Don, Carol, Betty, Ann,and Joe into beng friends with her. Even LC has fallen under her spell.

Keep up your opposition--she should be gone. Shame on Dick for inviting her here!

I remember Moon Pies. A Glob of marshmellow cream covered with a thin cookie and some non descript chocolate.
I was more of a Hostess Snowball person, though. Those pink ones that had the glob of chocolate cake in the middle and covered with marshmellow cream and then coated with coconut. I stole one once from an IGA supermarket in Enid Oklahoma. I was caught right away and threatened with going to jail for life if I ever set foot in that store again. I was cured of Hostess Snowballs on the spot!

I would know the answer to that question. I am not lowly Alice, but I know far more than she does. I won't tell you though, I only wish to dialogue with writers such as Domenic. You, Betty talk about animals and interesting things. I only talk about writing. That is how I got where I am.

My IQ is but 47--that did not deter me. I went up against writers far more qualified, intelligent, but not single-minded.
