Justyn just found the harmonica playing Santa. He almost swiveled right off the shelf he was standing on.

Packers are winning 13 to 0. So it is a good day.

Love, Carol

I took several pictures of everybody decorating and eating. I'm going to figure out how to post them on our photo album page. Will let you know when they are done.

Thanks. Everybody else did the work. I just took pictures. they are now posted in the gallery. Some of them are very dark. I need to work on them somehow to lighten them, but at least they are there.

Since I am on the road this year and have no tree and will be having dinner in a restaurant - your festivities are delightful to share!!!

I have that Lennox china someone was talking about with the gold band that can't go in the diswasher. I tried to give them to my son when he married; but he didn't want anything that doesn't go in the dishwasher.....I have 24 sets of elegant non-dishwasher dinnerware and the glasses that are such delicate crystal that they can't either. Noone wants them for the same reason I'm trying to give them away :-)

Just don't put stainless steel into the DW with the silver or the gold rimmed plates.

But I gave all that stuff to the kids. My Christmas dishes are not only DW safe, they go from freezer to oven.

I hand painted service for 16 Christmas dishes. I put them in the dishwasher. They are all right if not--oh well!

What gallery, the photo gallery? I didn't see them there.

While there, I skimmed the sticky. Is photo limit space still an issue? I don't know why it's even needed. Those who want to post photos can just open a free Photobucket account, upload them there and link.

I found the gallery! It was well hidden on the title bar at the top of the page, lol. Looks like you all had a good time! We'll probably be at my parents' house on the 24th. I just bought gifts for them from LL Bean -bathrooms and slippers for both of them. Boy, do I love internet ordering.

Meanwhile, more decorations. The silver got its annual polishing.

What is a tarnish remover plate? (obviously I don't have one, lol). I just use some stuff I rub on with a sponge.

LC,

That is what I do too. A plate sits in the water and all of the tarnish goes to it.

P. Gordon would be able to explain the chemistry behind it (electrolysis). A rectangular metal plate with small holes is placed in a bowl of hot water with a small handful of washing soda. After a five minute soak the silver is clean and ready to be polished with a soft cloth (you may have to use some silver polish for stubborn stains).

If I have to polish it with a soft cloth anyhow, what's the point of the tarnish remover plate?

You take it out of water and use the cloth to dry it off. It quickly buffs up to a gleaming shine with little effort.

I inherited my mom's silver-cleaning gloves. You just put them on, and buff the silver with your hands. The gloves become more effective with time, and turn from a chamois color to a dark green-blue.
The biggest advantage they have over that little plate is that they are gentler on the silver.
