| (Although it did not say so in the letter I received, when talking to the alumni office they said I was supposed to keep this confidential until they heard from the other recipients. I just don't know the protocol for getting such an award. So I'm going to edit this slightly.) Today I received correspondence telling me I had received a distinguished award from my college. I am overwhelmed by such an honor. Life is full of surprises. I love it. And I will be there to receive the award at the dinner next June. Love, Carol

| My college class has a yahoo group and is busy planning our 50th reunion next June. I thought they would like to know and emailed them. Now I'm feeling very guilty after I found out I wasn't supposed to let anyone know about this yet, but it was too late. (They didn't explain that in the letter and they probably didn't realize I'd get so excited about this whole thing to share good news for a change.)
Anyway, one comment I received from the class agent is appropriate here:
"Congratulations. You certainly deserve this. I have read your books and they are great. "
I had no idea she would have read my books. If not best sellers, my books certainly represent my love of knowledge and learning, which probably has made a difference. The college newsletter had reviewed both books and they are in the college library.
