| The nuts are yelling that Obama wants to kill the old folks.
I am surprised. Do they want to live forever and let their grandchildren have no medcal care?
It isn't coming to that, but if it did, which would you prefer have medical care, a fifty year old person or a 5 year -old?
Just curious as usual. |

| All children should have needed medical care. All 50 year olds should have needed medical care. I am over 70 and want needed medical care.
There was the man who said the republican health plan was "Don't get sick and if you do, die quickly." When I worked with people with life threatening illness, there were those who thought they had somehow caused their illnesses and if they just got their lives in order they'd get well. True some negative behaviors and environmental conditions can cause illness, but most of us can never answer the question "why?" Illness just happens.
If we can't be cured, even us older folks, we still need care and comfort. I know. For five months my doctor told me I had a vitamin deficiency and ignored my phone calls with reports of pain, swollen legs and not being able to walk. What I have can't be cured, but the more recent care and comfort I have received from the medical profession have been life saving.
But I do want all my children and grandchildren to outlive me, to get the care they need. And I definitely want to be part of the decisions made regarding my care.
Love, Carol |

| Alice it would be wrong to say that young people are more valuable than old people. Wrong to declare that the young have more right to live. To me all life is sacred irespective of age. No matter what age you are, you are just as valuable as any other living person. Ageism abounds in these times and it is just as wrong as raceism. Everyone wants to live a long life. Not everyone gets the chance. No politician should have the power to say who lives and who dies. Politicians work for us, we appointed them they answer to us. At least thats how it's supposed to work. But we do live in a time where secret agendas and plain greed often rule over common sense. We do often put loonies in places of power. So it should not be surpising that one day some idiot decides that old people cost too much money or create too much co2 emissions and contribute to global warming. "Old folk are a burden to society they represent a threat to the country. Let them all die, the sooner they do the better it will be for the nation and solve the food shortage."
I say all life is sacred it matters not if you are 1 year old or 130 you are still a valid member of society and have the right to live. |

| Very good post David. In some societies the elders are most valued as having the most wisdom.
It is the same with disabled, and babies.
