It's going to be a tough job. But we have to keep working at it. Our own Betty and her family are doing their bit with their hydrophonic farming.

If I could figure out how to produce potato energy I could put Idaho on the map. Well, baked with butter, sour cream, bacon and chives gives me energy. It's a start.

A "swell" article, Shelagh! I just now found a way to get it to open (different browser).

Charlie, potato energy... does vodka ring a bell? The article went on
to talk about corn and ethanol, and I immediately thought of my 21st
birthday party and a bottle of Absolut that tasted no different on the
way up than it did on the way down...

I'm not sure about you, Brew, but I'm a long way from 21 and I stopped drinking many years ago. Don't they use those Russian potatoes for vodka?

At near 100 proof, vodka would make a great fuel. I never drank it any more after that one time - which was 45 years ago.

Idaho potatoes are best as you described, but they would still make alcohol...
