New Year's is fast approaching.

This will be the first year in about three years that we are actually going out. There are about 10 couples going to Mesquite NV to ring in the New Year. I've been sick this last week with a bad cold, so I don't think I'll do much drinking. I hope I make it to midnight.

I hope so Zeda, I get tired of being sick. I've been having other health problems also. I'm hoping after the first of the year that I can find out what is wrong.

Here in Massachusetts we're getting a big snowstorm today--the snow falling an inch an hour right now. I decided to not even open my store today and enjoy a day at home. And I'm not open tomorrow, so I actually have two whole days off from work!

Curt has come to visit for the week from Michigan, and after we shovel all the snow, we'll probably hit the hot tub tonight with a drink in hand and dance around the living room to some of our favorite oldies music. I brought in plenty of wood to keep the house warm, and my freezer is stocked with appetizers to heat up for our private party tonight. It doesn't get any better than that!

I don't do New Year's Eve. (I have a deep, longstanding aversion to drunks)
But this year I might go down to the first NYE party thrown by Isla's new government. (Which, being in Mexico, will be Drunk City).
The dance is sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare and will feature the band "SuperCrack"

We've cancelled New Year's Eve... hubbie and I have come down with something snuffly and coughy. Himself has man-flu, whereas I, apparently, have nothing more than a cold. My mother and sister will be puddingless.

Gina, if you've cancelled New Year's Eve, does than mean we're stuck in 2008 forever? I hope not, because it's a year I am really looking forward to leaving behind... feel better quickly!

And at midnight, my brother and I (five years apart) will have another birthday.

lin and Helen, enjoy yourselves! lin, you can always leave if things get too rowdy but it doesn''t sound like much other than some fun. You probably deserve it, I know Curt and Helen do!!

Gina, I did the same. The cedar pollen is very high here, and was getting to me. I'm feeling much better this morning. I will enjoy making that pot of chili today.
