| Never made it that far North sadly. Maybe some day when I'm a bit richer or just have two pennies to rub together. The one I have looks a bit lonely. |

| Cheer up, Rhett. Ample body proportions just mean there's more of you to love. Skinny Minnies may be fashionable today but Fattie Hatties are more fun. |

On my mailbox I have a note that says: "Keine Werbung," meaning "No Advertising Material." It sure does cut down on the trash. A good solution, Abe. If nobody tells the mail man you don't want any junk from him, how is he supposed to know? There's also some waking up to the fact that *trees* need to be preserved / the earth re-foliated with more greenery and vegetation, for they create more oxygen and keep the balance of CO2 low and will help stop Global Warming: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/oct/31/forests-climatechange The above is a report dated October 31, 2008.Well over a year earlier, I had tried to argue this point with some people over on the environment forum: http://www.theenvironmentsite.org/forum/climate-change-forum/8132-terraform-sahara-reverse-global-warming.html On May 1st 2007, on the environment forum , Ahad proposed an initiative that we could terraform the vast Sahara desert economically, by utilising inexpensive solar energy in an effort to combat the currently accelerating global warming. The post was titled ‘Terraform the Sahara to Reverse Global Warming’, wherein he set out the details of a long term planetary engineering program. He pointed to harnessing the free energy from the Sun to desalinate water in the Mediterranean Sea and then to irrigate it into the African continental interior via pipelines, that could water an incrementally growing forestry project. By “greenifying” the 3.5-million square miles of desert into an ecologically friendly rain forest over a number of decades, ample growable land would be made available for conservation of nature and preserving endangered animal species. Those would be additional side benefits to the main focus of improving the global oxygen/CO2 balance, he pointed out, to reduce the runaway greenhouse effect. Ahad estimated a planet-wide temperature drop of some 5 degrees C would result from such a project, based on the equivalent differences of current temperatures in the arid Sahara region compared to the average temperatures of cooler, rain forested parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

| Ahad, I checked out those sites. The cause and effect of our environment discussed there has stimulated some good discussions. Although your scientific approach may appear a bit wild, so have many other ideas in the past that became a reality. Harnessing the energy from the desert sun makes sense. Desalination is a technology that needs more attention. It can provide water to drink and irrigate the arid regions with multiple benefits. And yes, we need trees. Instead of cutting more down, we need to plant more. The reasons given on the forum are sound. |

| My Sahara terraformation idea... in all its most wildest facets has been neatly recorded at the foot of this page:

Of course, our friend Ragib is still yet to see its benefits |
