Almost got hooked with bad company. Xlibris. Sent deposit, and after I received the contract, I would not sign it...bad, bad deal. Called the Att gen in their State, and company is sending back depo.

For someone who claims to be so smart, you do some daft things, Domenic. You are supposed to check out companies before you part with your money.

I know that some people are happy with Xlibris. I thought they were similar to Publish America. I didn't think they asked for money up front.

Shelagh, you should know...guys are only smart sometimes. There sending my money back.

The contract they wanted me to sign read.
They change my ISBN...with one they own.
They own the work they do making the ebook...which I pay for.
If I want the book back it will cost me $150+50+150...up and over the $500 I would have paid them. Plus, they have the right to cancel our contract, and I would also have to wave all court rights.

Anybody signs that contract is a dead duck. They are a scam...what saved my butt, my book has an ISMN.
I checked them out on Preditors & Editors...not there.

I called them, and talked to a fellow named Matt. I sent him the via email a copy of the book...the calculations still came out as little squares...I'm waiting for his call back. I'll have to mail him a CD.
