You are right, Abe. It isn't about forgetting the past - try doing that and it will come back to haunt you. It's about letting go of those experiences and in doing so, freeing yourself to live in the present.

I can honestly say there are only two people in my past that I feel I might have been better off without. Neither were family, and the fact is that neither were actually friends. I have seldom met anyone I didn't like, and on those occasions that I have I had enough sense not to try and get too close to them. The two men were both co-workers, and both of low enough character that I came to completely despise them. To the point where I can honestly say I hated them, and that is not an easy thing for me to do. I never saw any redeeming factors in either of them, but had no choice but to work with them for several years. Of course I tried to stay as far removed from them as I could, and somehow I managed to pass the time without actually killing them, which I thought about on more than one occasion.

I have been fortunate to have more than my share of life long friends, many who shared the same environment as I when growing up, and I can look back on my past with much fondness, knowing that some memories are better than others, but almost all of them are great.

I am glad you didn't kill anyone, E Don. Thinking is one thing, doing quite another.

I had a terribly obnoxious co- worker who annoyed everyone. My mother was in the hospital gravely ill. I was at work, when the hospital staff called me to update me on her condition. Miss Congeniality started screaming at me about something. I snapped. I finished my phone conversation and said "Do not scream at me, I will choke you!"
It was so funny the screaming died down in her throat and a hush fell over the workplace.
She never yelled at me again.

The boss was so pleased and said, "Good for Alice." when he was told about it.
I probably could/should have been sued.

The odd thing is I had no thoughts of killing her, just quieting her.
