KatjaB - you did a great job of summing up things. All the money spent and it's going to come down to those who like the way Romney looks and talks and those who like the way President Obama looks and talks.

I prefer President Obama's youth and his four years experience. I see Romney as an old man, representing the 1950's and the old men of that era. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of the voting.

I am amazed that people would put another person in the office to repeat the Bush years. They must be asleep.

Joe and I are about the same age. We have survived both Democratic and Republican regimes.
Now we have extremists on the right side.
I always voted Republican for President until GWB made such a mess.

I feel as though Obama is the old reasonable Republican
He is a Christian who has been much maligned by professed Christians.
I know Joe hates this but to many this is a racial issue.

Our Uncle was against him for racial reasons.
I hate to see us go backwards.

Of course it's race, Alice. It has been from the beginning. That's why there is such nostalgia for the 1950's. That was a time of great control by white men in society and the workplace. After the 1960's, things began to change as black people and women began to be treated like God's children instead of the spawn of the devil. That was a hard pill to swallow for those who were accustomed to control and at least one or two classes of people beneath them so long as they were male and white. Romney is a product of that era of white men in control of women and the boardroom.

Many enlightened men welcomed the change and embraced the influx of innovation and intellectual capacity with the gaining position of black people and women. It has still left many men and their wives and the women they still control left in a 1950's bubble of hope that if they ignore the progress, it won't affect their lives. Then, here comes a black president and beautiful black family in the White House. It was like the final slap in the face to an era that was gone. Men's control is also documented in the Christian Bible along with religious dogma against women's freedom to control their own reproductive rights. Thus, the Republican Party of today.

Oh, we all have our black friends, but it doesn't make us a person who welcomes equality for all blacks. The ones we accept are "special" and the "others" are the issue. In reality, white people in general are more the "others" everyday - the very fear experienced in S. Africa as they attempted to integrate blacks into society with Mandella. I'm sure they still have their problems just as we still have ours in adjusting to change. We behave one way on the surface, but underneath cooks a cauldron of distrust, fear, and resentment.

People here that are stuck in the 1950's talk about how beautiful Ann Romney is and what a beautiful First Lady she will make - blond, blue-eyed and white-skinned. Posts on FB say horrible, derogatory things about Michelle Obama, that gracious and beautiful mother of two find young women and wife to a man who has had to suffer major discrimination and hate mongering in his own nation for simply winning an election.

I think the underlying bias and prejudice is what has heated up this campaign and been played to a frenzy by the ratings whores who make their money by stirring up hateful emotions with twisted truths and downright lies and "suspicians" and allegations - creating a suspect mentaligy, a paranoia, a climate of hate.

The economy is improving; President Obama's policies are not all working perfectly, but everything is getting better. Romney has nothing in his favor but the hateful frenzy and living propaganda of the republican political machine. Pity the country that it would consider electing an empty suit like Romney whose ideas change with the wind - and a Mormon at that. Boy, if we want to get into some zany religious dogma - why haven't his religious views been attached? Because he is white.

In my opinion, the election is black and white and I don't mean that in reference to color of the person. What I mean is White as for truth and black as for the lies that have been told and are still being told.

If one is for truth, then the logical choice is to vote Democratic. We have seen and still hear the GOP lies and the consequences are still being felt. Bush is a criminal and needs to be brought to justice. A candidate for President who lies should not be awared the position. Lying before being President is a good indication that he will continue lying if/when he were to become President. As for Don Harpe, he tells it like it is. You many not like the language he uses, but I'm sure the meaning is clear. He doens't make statements without checking first. I believe what he says. Repearing rumors and half-truths and even lies doesn't make sense for anyone. Questioning is good. Getting people to prove their statements is also good. How one receives this information is not something we can predict. We know the lies Bush told and he got away with them not once but twice. It says much about the people who believed the lies without question.

I agree with you Alice. I cannot tolerate twisting the truth - twisting is almost worse than a bald faced lie. It takes more work to prove the lie in a twisting - and the propaganda artists know that.

I heard the FDA is going after the miracle skin creams that cure wrinkles. There goes that miracle! It does put moisture in a 25 year old woman's face and a moist face pretending to be 40 looks line free compared to a dry one. They probably dehydrate for one picture and then hydrate for the next. So many lies everywhere; no wonder politicians lie with impunity and still think they are operating within their religion.

My church believes every thought is a prayer and that God is everywhere knowing everything we say and do. Some people seem to shut that thought from their mind when they wish to tell a whopper - when "the ends justifies the means."
