The Stock Brokers Luck

Here is a poem I woke up with this morning.


The Stock Brokers Luck

We all stood on the rooftop
the highest one around
watching the sun set slowly
on the outer edge of town

Thirty or forty stock brokers
all gathered in a clump
economical recession had
driven us to jump

The radio played some music
to help us in our goals
one by one we'd take the leap
us poor tormented souls

As each tormented stock broker
fell crashing to the ground
I could hear the traffic screeching
the ambulances sound.

I was the last man standing
and all wound up to go
But a familiar list of numbers
came on the radio

I screamed by the roof top railing
where everyone could see
"Sorry lads I've changed my mind
I've won the lottery!"
