| It's very quiet on the forum, so I decided to surf other writers' forums to see what topics are currently being discussed. From a precursory look, many or the discussions follow the old way of publishing and keep the new way at arm's length.
Conversely, on the Published Authors Network, there are lively discussions about the rapid changes taking place in the publishing world and how writers are adapting to the new landscape.
One such discussion is about the demise of literary agents:

Today's climate: it's publishing, Jim, but not as we know it. |

| Like the rest of us, literary agents are seeking out pastures new. Nathan Bransford has decided to join the techno revolution of social media:

| Well, visitors to forums who only want to advertise their blogs should not be encouraged. |

| I've not been on a writer's forum in ages. I think this one is the only one I've stopped by since April. And even then I've been pretty M.I.A.
I don't even remember half of the forums I belong/belonged to.

| Hi Joelle,
Good to hear from you! Alice is pretty keen to find your son's whereabouts to send him her best wishes for Christmas (as we all do!). Is he going to be home for Christmas now that the troops are returning from Iraq? |

| Hi everyone, Alice, I just saw your thread asking about my son. It is very kind of you to want to send him something. I will send you a pm. Shelagh, no he won't be coming home for Christmas. He's in Afghanistan and he's deployed for a year, so he won't be back until later next year. The job hunting has been pretty difficult. I am still unemployed, but I've been pretty busy as well. I am taking three college classes, finals this week. I am enrolled for three more class next semester as well. Busy watching grandkids, doing some writing, and keeping the house clean. I love the time with my family, especially my sister. But I do miss driving around the country. I very much appreciate all of you. It is kind of you to ask how I am. |

| JoElle, nice to hear you still have a positive outlook. Taking classes sounds good. The new year starts from scratch. Make it your year. I have some baggage to get rid of knowing it will piss some off, however that may keep me from getting pissed on. Doing nothing changes nothing. For my condition to change, I must change.
Hope your son returns safely. That is a worry/concern you should not have much longer. |

There are those who network purely to advertise their wares. It can get quite annoying at times. But I suppose that networking is part of becoming known. I have no such hidden agenda when I come to this forum and I have found it helpful to be here. This is a great forum I will never abuse it! |
