Creating jobs is difficult. Depriving people with no voice is easier. When you have no contact with those people, it's only numbers on a piece of paper.

Jobs are created when ordinary people open a business and hire one more person. They feel free to take that risk when their basic needs are met. Destroying the capacity of a person to meet basic needs of food, shelter and health does not create jobs or fix the deficit. It does bring political capital.

Each of us who write are small business people. We create jobs with every business card we buy, every promotional item we print, and every person who buys our books. Purchasing capacity also creates jobs.

The destruction of jobs feeds upon itself.

Suppose that Megamanufacturing Inc outsources fabrication, assembly, warehousing, distribution, etc. to a third world country where resources are cheaper and taxes are lower. Those people at home who lost their jobs are no longer contributing to the local economy and paying taxes. The people from whom those displaced workers used to buy things now have their jobs in jeopardy. And so the metaphorical spiral continues.

That's what "trickle down" really means.

However, when you are in the upper 1% of the economy, where your income is derived from the profits of those corporations whose income is the result of sending jobs out of the country, talking "jobs creation" is just lip service. The real intent is to make sure nothing disturbs the gravy train, the untaxed gravy train at that. At the upper 1%, you have the means to buy governor's offices, lobbyists, Madison Avenue advertising, political campaigns and more...

How many political ads am I buying? Not one.
