It is very sad.

The last thing we need in this country is anyone stirring up hate against any group of people. It feeds the frustrations of those already suffering poverty and harboring feelings of resentment for their own condition.

We don't have an "immigrant" problem in this country. What we have is a "poverty" and "education" problem in this country. We have schools that are war zones. We have neighborhoods run by gangs, gangs that have existed in the likes of Cabrini Green and other impoverished areas for generations.

We have a division between the rich and the poor, with the poor getting poorer. Yes, the poor of this country appear wealthy compared to others; but they are not comparing themselves to others - they see what they want on television and are unable to attain it anymore.

So the politicians who stir up hate for their own self-interest are adding fuel to an already smouldering cauldron.

Alvin Toffler, in Future Shock, talked about the three sources of power: violence, wealth, and information.

For the powerless, violence is often the only recourse. As we can find more means to equalize power, the violence will recede.

Just me, again.
