| Hi all. Haven't checked in for awhile. Lots of stuff going on--some good, some not so. Life. One book released, another in the works. Some odds and ends sitting around on my computer, just existing until I turn attention their way. This time of year, my muses always pack up and leave for somewhere cooler. Probably Canada. I am left to edit and read, and try to find an AC vent to park my fanny over. Summer in the Deep South of the US is brutal! Enough whining. So...just curious...do extremes of temperature affect your writing, too? Sign me...sitting on ice in Florida. |

| I hadn't thought of sitting on ice. That might work. Yes, it does get very hot, and neither my body nor my brain function well enough to hear anything like a muse. Thank goodness for A/C!
At least you are back for a bit.
Missed you.

| Freon. It takes freon. I rarely write or practice music outdoors. |

| Rhett, good to see your smiling face. As for heat, it drains energy and I don't have much of that at the moment. I prefer cooler temperatures. Ice sitting? Hmmm. How much ice does it take for the coolness to reach the brain? |

| Rhett,
Great to see you. You will be pleased to know that summer is my least favorite season

On some people it's immediate. |

On some people it's immediate. Which people? The ones with brains in their behinds? |

| Yes...Florida. I love it during the winter. Actually, for six months of the year I'm pretty happy to live here. The rest of the year, I survive... |

| Dear Rhett, You know that no other place is the same wonderful that is this state. Last winter, I whined about two weeks for freezing temperatures, but I grew a strawberry crop that did just fine and the tomatoes that froze went ahead and produced so many tomatoes that I canned 96 jars.
Today, I saw corn on the cobs selling for 10 cents an ear at Walmart. There was a couple of people selecting corn. I said that the poor farmer was not making a dime. You know, those people stood there and shucked that corn to make sure they were not ripped off for that dime. I would have liked to send them to a place that had no food at all and they had to eat grasshoppers.
I have lived in many places. Florida is the best.
Love, Betty

lol. YK, I've mentoned those 10c/ear cobs on this forum before, and wondered who was making any money off that. What are you doing with 96 cans of tomatoes? Do you sell them? |

| The corn farmers receive a subsidy from the feds. I saw a documentary. Most of the corn grown is the kind you don't eat. They don't make any money on any of the corn. The government keeps them going. It's mostly huge industrial complexes that grow everything.
We probably have the cheapest food in the world here (well, canned food was cheaper in the Domican Republic). They keep figuring chemicals to make it grow more faster in less space with resistance to disease and bugs such that an old farmer probably wouldn't recognize a field of food.
I love to go to markets where they still grow ugly fruits and vegetables, especially tomatoes. There are seed companies that are still trying to preserve original seeds for food products, but it's hard because even the soil is full of chemicals that alter the crops. |

| I'm lovin' those little cherry and grape tomatoes. Seems they are easy for me to grow. Every day is like Christmas, and I can tell you I have had my share of wonderful salads this summer. Oh dear, I just found something good about summer. |

| You know summer is my least favorite season.
My muses stay inside with the a/c full blast during the summer.
Autumn and Winter are my muses favorite seasons.
ps - but being the eternal optimist that I am ... I do find one good thing about this hot and humid season: FIREFLIES!!!!
(i think i will go post that on facebook) |
