| I've been investing in the stock market for 25 years. Right now I'm trying to talk myself out of buying Google. If I'm unsuccessful, I'll probably buy some today. Anyone have good stock stories, stocks they're watching, etc., etc.? |

| I invested much of the money I earned from selling my business, although I also did fun things and bought things for kids.
We have a terrific investment person since my husband took all his retirement money and invested it. He did get a degree in economics many years ago, and does accept lots of help from this investment person.
I invested in the Canadian Railroad over ten years ago and have made a fair amount of money. My goal has always been to take some of the money I've earned and buy two tickets to take the train across Canada.
I have also taken $500 when my grandchildren reach 14 and bought them shares of stock. They choose the stock and can change it if they wish. Some have lost money and one more than tripled his $500 on Apple. They can turn in their stock when they reach 18. |

| Carol, you gave your grandkids $500 and told them to invest it in a stock? That's a clever way to get them to research. |

| Ok, I have a limit order in for Google -if I get it, fine, if I don't, that's ok, too (could I be any more ambivalent about this stock? lol). |

| Invest in pharmaceuticals. You will be guaranteed a killing.
We bought Amgen years ago and made $18,000.00 in a very short time.
Now with doctors, virtually salesmen for the drug companies, it would be even better. |

| Another investment idea--give up your flight. We made over $600.00 by delaying our flight by one day. We had fun too--caught a movie, ate out and flew the next morning. |

| 3/16/2010 LC.. I once worked for The Bombay Co., had a 401K Plan they matched, when I left I asked for the money, they told me it was better taking the stock , bad mistake. When I left the stock was worth $36- per share valued at $7,200- When they finally gave me their half of the shares ( It took months of fighting to get it, I finally proved to them I was under the old plan, they gave in) it was in total 200 shares . WHen I finally did get to sell it , it was $9.50 per share X 200 shares $1,900- I was furious. I never again got into company stocks.. Oh by the way Bombay Company is coming back via website to sell their furniture, tec. Cheers..Joe |

| Alice -we've given up flights, too, for free tickets. It's great as long as you don't have to be at work the next day. Joe -not sure what happened with your Bombay Co. stock, but I wouldn't let it sour you on stocks in general. I am putting my kids through college with profits I made on AOL and some other tech stocks in the 90's. Yes, I lost money on some, but that's how it goes. You might just look at Index 500 mutual funds, too -less reward, but less risk. |

| One very regrettable investment: Three of Dick's Normandy books for Marie. Also, one of my books.
I'd rather have a new blouse or dress from Nordstrom's |

| Alice,
Did she thank you? Did she read Dick's book?
I hope so, and I apologize because I had said I'd send her Dick's book, but was unable to do so due to not feeling well.
I'm not sure she understood that packing up a book and taking it to the post office was not something I could do, and sometimes I feel I ask too much of my husband.

| Carol,
She thanked me. The things that have been said on that blog about me are reprehensibile. if someone had sent me over $100.00 worth of books, I would act differently.
I am bewildered. I didn't take her for a user. |

| I feel better now--I bought two new hats. No need to apologize, Carol. I had a time getting to the post office and wish I had not bothered.
Oh well, live and learn! |

| Well, Alice, it was my mistake to offer when I couldn't deliver. Thanks for helping me out and I'll help pay for the books.
I thought Dick's book was a masterpiece that should be read by anyone who plans to promote him as a writer.
Thanks Alice. Next time I won't offer.
I bet you'll look great in those hats.
Love ya, Carol |

Love ya, Carol No, don't help. I am enjoying being a martyr. Listen to me wallow. I didn't need to send three--two would have sufficed. She likes cturkel and he sent none. |

| Don't be too hard on Chris. Taking another identity for a short while isn't such a terrible thing, is it Alice? |

No, but how many forums did I destroy? I admitted it also. |

| Yes, I know he was partly to blame for destroying AS, but I don't see any evidence that he's trying to destroy this forum. When he first joined, he was extremely rude to Ann and Carol. He went away for a short time to cool off. When he came back, he softened his attacks and actually started to make some friends. I think he deserves some credit for that instead of always being judged on past behaviour. |
