I've read that publishers are excited
about it and Amazon is nervous ...I wonder if our
books will be cheaper , more sales ? It's already
in eight states..

Seems like with this, even moreso than Amazon, you'd REALLY have to have a specific book in mind to call it up. How would you browse anything? I see this as facilitating buying out-of-print books.

Re books being cheaper, wouldn't it still be basically up to the publisher to set the price?

I think it is part of the revolution in buying, selling and publishing books. Whether it survives is unknown, but it does provide more options for the already accepted POD method of publishing.
