I generated this fractal with a computer program.

A fractal is "a curve or geometric figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. Fractals are useful in modeling structures (such as eroded coastlines or snowflakes) in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth, fluid turbulence, and galaxy formation."

Nicely constructed P. Gordon Kennedy.

This is another version in which the original fractal if framed by another computer-generated fractal, making it look like the first fractal is hatching from an egg. Kind of reminds me of a "cosmic egg" hatching a baby universe.

Dear Peter,
In the old days, this would be a kalidescope's random presentation.

I loved kalidescopes as a child and even now I have the crystal versions. Refracted light off shining stones or glass to make a wonderful and random fleeting view.

Is this the same premise used on computers? Perhaps you have more control over the image.

Love,
Betty

I call this one "Fractal Nova" because it reminds me of a supernova going off.

I am fascinated by fractals. I understand that even with the similarities and patterns, they are like snowflakes, that no to are ever completely alike. Isn't that the way of the universe?
