"From John Grogan, author of the New York Times bestsellers Bad Dogs Have More Fun, Marley and Me, and The Long Way Home, comes a new collection of more than eighty newspaper articles from the Philadelphia Inquirer written when he was a columnist there."

Why haven't Lane and Dick gathered their newspaper stories into anthologies and published them? I don't know Lane's writing that well; but Dick has brought many tears to my eyes from stories he posted in forums and on his blog.

See my website, DK. An anthology recently was published containing more than two dozen of my columns.

Beautiful book too--I have it. It is a hardcover and a limited edition. I am not a journalist. writer, nor a book reviewer so this will go here under mention of the book.

The book contains a very detailed history of Arizona. There are many pictures and stories.

Lane has some very intriguing contributions--such as the sad tale of insane, Eva D. She snuffed her husband, was tried and sentenced to hang.

Arizona state had a hangman that had no clue how to hang a person. He hung her with such force that her head popped off and rolled about on the ground, blood spurted everywhere. The spectators were horrified.

Get the book--it is only $49.95 and worth every penny. I would definitely purchase it and wouldn't dare try to nick it as the state of Arizona does not deal kindly or gently with criminals.

2009--help can't find the copyright sign--don't anyone dare infringe!

Lane, feel free to edit my blurb and send me corrections. Remember I am only a lowly, retired bean counter. Journalists writing anthologies 798629 Journalists writing anthologies 798629 Journalists writing anthologies 798629

You're a hoot, Alice.

Frankly, I think the book is absurdly over priced. But I'm a writer, not a bookmaker.

Lane,

You are correct--you are a writer, a very good one too. I am a reader--not a writer.

I am not a bookmaker either, but as a lowly retired accountant I say the book is worth every penny.

I only pay what something is worth--if it is absurdly overpriced I don't buy it.

Using my circular reasoning the book has to be fairly priced. lol!

Good point, DK. I never kept copies of columns but since 1976 Jackie has done so. She agrees with you. Every so often I get the urge, but it quickly fades away when I think of wading through all that stuff to pick out the right things. Something else always seems like more fun. Maybe one of these days.

Dick,

It might be a great project for Jackie, though.

You two have just earned Jackie's everlasting hatred. It's OK, though, I won't tell her.
