It is. The sun is shining. The temp is 72 degrees. The trees are in full leaf and the critters are in abundance at my feeders. The last two weeks I have felt like hell with an asthmatic/bronchial thing. In the past year I have conquered stage four cancer, swollen legs and feet, walking, many infections, a pulmonary embolism, but this one was difficult. After almost a year, I decided to go back to my usual social life. It didn't work. I can't do the usual. Those who said I just needed to be happy to be alive can congratulate yourself with "I told you so." I know that I need to be glad to just be alive. Again, aside from phone calls, this computer was my social life. It is a microcosm of my world, those people I really like a lot, those I can't seem to get along with, those I get to know and get to like, and those I've been wandering messageboards with for years. I know I have to give up the Red Cross and my mental health license, but I can write. I have a whole library here at my fingertips. I can learn new things. I can imagine and be creative. I have always felt the necessity to give back to the world for my good fortune in life, but writing will have to suffice as well as just being me to my family and friends. And you know, life is pretty good. Love ya all, and thanks for all your ideas. The medical profession is very lacking in treatment for asthma/bronchitis. Your ideas worked much better and many thanks, especially to Shelagh for this board. Carol

Just don't take some of those so-called cures for asthma/bronchitis. I saw that commercial last night that tells you how great it is and then goes on to twice warn it may cause death. They should just come right out and say, "If it doesn't kill you, it might help." You have a fine outlook. Don't change. Love those people who say, "You should be thankful you only broke one leg. It might have been both." On the other hand it could have been neither.

You have made remarkable progress, Carol, and even if you aren't able to do things the way you used to do them, you can find different ways to do them or find new activities that are easier to do. Keep that positive attitude, it can do wonders.

It's a tough life but someone has to live it. Just think how many people love you for it. I kind of like you myself.

Dear Carol, My heart sister friend, Do not worry. You have time. Everything is about time when you are our age. It does not matter because the minutes roll out one after the other and we can stand and watch them tick by or we can see the miracle in each moment. I wish I had been aware of time in my youth. I would have enjoyed the journey and paid more attention. I have missed a lot. Alice, my God, Woman! You who have been to the other side and back, I have seen your spirit floating on my ceilings at night. How you do that is the question. I think I need a brain job. hahahah. Love, Betty
