| We have Warner Cable, a company I dislike. The picture on our set is vastly improved. The small one I use is not connected to Warner. All the channels are still operating and its picture also is much better. Reminds me of Y2K. |

| The box I received from Comcast was free, just a nuisance as now I have two remotes since the one Comcast gave me doesn't seem to work the volume control. ** rolling my eyes ** I'm getting all the channels I'm supposed to, though, so yea! |

| Dear DK, That is the stuff that bad dreams are made of. I am sorry you had such a nasty day. I dreamed that I had just had my truck painted a lovely emerald green. The truck you described backed up and up and up and shoved me into a hole in the ground where I saw his bumper stop just before he crushed my truck, me inside. Do you have a green vehicle? Love, Betty |

| I really don't get modern technology. When I switched to U-verse last fall, I could not get the volume control to the set in the living room to work properly with either remote. Even with both set to max, the volume is just barely loud enough to hear in that room. When I'm in my office, I have to strain to hear it. Not a major problem, just a nuisance. The volume on the sets in the bedroom and kitchen are both fine. Then I got a new HD for the living room so my sons-in-law could watch their games. Even with the new set the volume was still low. So I switched the boxes between the living room and kitchen but the volume stayed the same in both rooms. The hook-up required different types of cable in the two rooms, and that seems to be the cause of the volume problem, but the new set, except for the HD cable, requires the same hook-up as the old.

| Lies are pervasive in our society. I have learned the politicians are all expert liars, and not to be trusted. In general, unless you can verify the wordspeople tell you, trust nothing you hear and only believe half of what you see. I want proof of things before I trust. |

| My spelling has gone from bad to worse with the advent of spellcheck. I have no faith in the words I believe are correct. I once prided myself on editorial ability. Now, I rely on programs that also make errors. Imagine in another century; nly bts wll b txtd. |

| I'm with you, DK. Texting may destroy our written language, or at least contort it into something difficult for us to use. I don't have spell check in my browser, Ann. That would be handy. My spelling is pretty good, except for words not used often. |

| If you use Firefox, it has built in spell check. I recommend it heartily. |

| There's a web site for parents to get the texting dictionary so they can follow the language of their children. Yikes! |

| Yikes is right, DK! Mr. Turkel, I have considered going to another browser, and Firefox seems to be the one most recommended. I may switch yet. |

| Zada, you got that right about politicians. I spent years of my life being among them from U.S. senators on down. Believe it or not, I did know one who was honest. |

| I knew of one back in 1970 that I believed was honest. He was running for US senator as a Republican, using the slogan, "Vote for the man, not the machine." (This was before the Reaganite crossover in '76, which changed politics in this state forever, and still keeps the state from being controlled by conservative Democrats.) I relied on those memories some years later when the same individual ran for president, and voted for him. It was my last time ever to vote for a Republican. His name was George H. W. Bush.

| George W must have fried his brain on drugs and alcohol, something was wrong with him and he certainly hid it well--until he was elected.
He cured me of Republicans also.

| George Herbert was recommended by my father - one of the reasons I think he may have started out honest. My dad wasn't easily fooled. George W reminded me too much of many of the guys I met in college. He was typical of oil-rich spoiled brats, staying in school and using connections to get into the national guard to keep from getting drafted and going to Vietnam.

| Dick Cheney, that tough talker, got six deferrments to avoid going to Vietnam. He had "other priorites." I imagine the more than 50,000 who died there had a few other priorities of their own. What a pair, Cheney and George W. |

| There's a word I'd like to use to describe them here, but will be respectful. I cringe every time I see either one on TV. Carol |
