| We are almost to June! I can't wait for December. Why? The kids and grandkids will be home for Christmas. I love it when everyone is home in our house.
I have a beautiful red wall in our rec room, Dave built me a gorgeous stand for our TV. We got matching leather chairs from Dania and have a Harrod's area rug for the floor.
I have a new white pre-lit Christmas tree, all new Lenox decorations and am dying to decorate.
Fortunately we will be away a fair amount between then and now.
I am jealous of Carol and her four-year old grandson. I had to go to England to see mine--now Michigan. |

| It was a happy day, made even happier by my fourteen-year-old grandson who took very good care of his little four-year-old cousin. There were lots of happy thoughts. We went to a great little amusement park. We don't live too far from Wisconsin Dells but that place is too wild. The train that goes through the fields at this park is gorgeous. Tom says he thinks the engineers pay to drive that train. And when the train stops they are out polishing the engine, just a bunch of big boys playing "trains" with a train that kids, parents and grandparents can ride in. Simple things in life make the happiest thoughts. |

| Carol,
I am so glad you had a good day. It is so beautiful in WA today and we went to Seattle to eat.
I ate only about four times too much--sure glad it was only four and not five--must go and try to walk it off now. |

| Yesterday was a good day for me, too. My "children" were over for dinner. Their dad is recovering from back surgery and requested a switch (they usually have Sat dinner with him and Sunday with me). While they were here, Dave called to say that they would be bringing Jaycie to SA for Thanksgiving, and that Lyn's dad would probably come with them. My son-in-law had said that he had pretty much convinced his parents to move here since his dad will be fully retired soon. I like his parents. We are a lot alike in our beliefs. They always spent Thanksgiving with us when we were all in the Houston area. This is going to be a delightful Thanksgiving. I am already looking forward to it.

| The happiest thought I can think of is that Christmas will be cancelled for what is left of my lifetime. While I'm at it, all three-day weekends would receive the same treatment. I know, I'm odd. |

| Dick, Santa will leave a big lump of coal in your stocking. What is so terrible about Christmas? I feel like sending you a cat. Maybe you should read Scrooge by Charles Dickens. You knew I would get huffy over this. Let the hostilities begin. Ann, Your poor X had back surgery? That was my first surgery when I was 36, Once was enough of that I hope. |

| Abe, Send me a wild cat and I will get it to Dick. I can see clearly why Dick would hate Cristmas. No cats or brocolli--what a bore. Peace and goodwill--NO WAY, JOSE! |

| Alice, unfortunately, this was not the first back surgery. The doctors have assured him that everything went perfectly, but he is still in a lot of pain. He is happy, though, that his new granddaughter will be here for Thanksgiving.

| Ann, Recovery from back surgery is slow. Six months from now he will feel better. In fact the further away from it, the better one feels. |

| Happy thought? How about a field of daisies, flooded with sunshine, being visited by butterflies? |

| My granddaughter's graduation picture where she is sitting in a field of yellow daisies, being the most beautiful flower among them.

Ann My current favorite version is a photograph from Ralph Marston's "The Goodness of Life" presentation on The Daily Motivator. It is copyrighted, but you can see it on this page, 3rd photo up from the bottom: http://thegoodnessoflife.com/photos.html |
