One World is the story of James Gilmour, British SAS, and his personal fight with international terrorism. During the assault of a hi-jacked aircraft, Gilmour befriends a young girl whose mother has been shot. After the assault, Gilmour snatches the girl from Social workers he believes are not working in her best interests and takes her home. His actions bring down the fury of his superiors and Gilmour finds himself being thrown out of the Regiment.

Returning from a shopping trip, the back doors of a transit van burst open and guns are brandished. During the ensuing scuffles an SAS mate is shot dead and Gilmour is taken hostage along with the girl.

With the American President’s State visit to Britain imminent, Whitehall finds itself greatly alarmed over the shooting and kidnapping of SAS soldiers, and tasks Peter Ellis, an unconventional freelance operative, to investigate. From a dying man in a disused quarry on the outskirts of Belfast, Ellis learns disturbing news.

About the Author

George's military training began with the territorial army when he enlisted with The Queens Own Highlanders but it wasn't long before he was yearning for more challenge and excitement. 15 Para, a Scottish TA Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, provided just that. He was badged at Aldershot after successfully completing P Company and was presented with the coveted Para wings on completion of his parachute training at RAF Brize Norton.

His activities attracted the attention of The Unit, a paramilitary unit that specialises in solving international child abduction cases. He was recruited and became involved in gathering intelligence for snatch operations in hostile environments. One such operation, Snatch 02M2, a Special Forces operation to rescue three kidnapped children from the Lebanon, was the focus of frenzied media attention in Norway. The mediaop was aimed at securing the rights of abducted children and consequently laws were changed accordingly.

George is still active with The Unit.

Quote :
I had the good fortune to edit a novel a while back. Called One World it is a tale of suspense and intrigue, centered around the work of a handful of SAS operatives, it casts light on some highly clandestine activity that some would doubt is even taking place.

If you’d like a really good read this winter, do get it. You will find your beliefs challenged though, so be warned.

I have a strong feeling that sooner or later this work will be made into a movie. The author George MacIver is a natural and I hope his first work will only be the first of many.

Your real life experience will provide great background and accuracy to your book, I would think. Along with the dazzling cover, I'd say you're good to sell millions!

Best of luck.

Thanks Malcolm, I agree, I like that book cover. Was very happy with the cover designer when it was done. Took years to get that vision into an image of some kind. Just had a look at your Garden of Heaven. I must say I love your style of writing. I try to get a hook in every chapter yet you seem to manage to get one into every paragraph!!

One World looks very exciting, George. And, it sounds like you have the background to write it! I plan to read your first chapter, soon. All the best.

George your book looks really interesting and as someone else here said, you certainly have a most intriguing personal background. Just fascinating. Certainly must add to the richness of your work.

Looks like I'm going to be concentrating on non fiction from now on. Getting that novel published has generated some interest and I've had two tentative offers to write books to accompany television documentaries. One of the books will cover a deepsea dive to a WW2 shipwreck with a very interesting cargo! I'll certainly let you know if anything comes of them.

I'm not surprised you've had some offers to work with some folks doing television documentaries....the deep sea dive thing REALLY sounds interesting so I hope you keep all of us posted on your progress. Lots of luck.....

Impressive George, very impressive. I can only echo all that has been written here. I won't wish you luck, it doesn't seem like you are going to need it. What a ride you have had, and hopefully, the ride is not over.
