LOOK IN THE MIRROR Empty
PostSubject: LOOK IN THE MIRROR   LOOK IN THE MIRROR EmptyTue Feb 24, 2009 2:52 am

Looking in the mirror I can still see the troubled child of long ago looking back. The wrinkles and graying hair cannot disguise the young boy. I also see the man this child has become, a loving husband, a caring father and prideful grandfather. An adult who is quick to anger is very opinionated who has high moral beliefs. An individual, who is full of faults, likes and dislikes and would love to be able to correct them all. A person who would like to forget the past but holding on to it with the knowledge the past is what made him who he is today. This is what I see when looking in the mirror, what do you see?

PostSubject: Re: LOOK IN THE MIRROR   LOOK IN THE MIRROR EmptyTue Feb 24, 2009 6:11 am

I see someone with graying hair, not too old looking, smiling, and looking much better than a few months ago. (People said I looked terrible, but now look good.) I see myself, the person I am, perhaps not as others see me, since I am not completely known to others. (They see things about me I don't see as well, however.)

Ah, mirrors. What they reflect. What they see.

PostSubject: Re: LOOK IN THE MIRROR   LOOK IN THE MIRROR EmptyTue Feb 24, 2009 6:27 am

I don't look in the mirror as often as I used to, but I still see innocence and a carefree soul staring back, puzzled over the meaning of existence...looking, searching for how best to make sense of all the confusions that now surround him.

Turkel, why don't you either take your preaching elsewhere or get rid of your various signatures instead of making an obnoxious fool of yourself? Or are you just too ignorant to get the message?

Turkel, that gutless wonder, once again deleted his vile signature after I called him on it. He replaced it with "I have no pity." You didn't get that quite right, Turkel. What you meant to say is you are pitiful.

LOOK IN THE MIRROR 67296 Sorry to hijack your thread, Nutter, but I refuse to sit back quietly and read Turkel's filth. I told both him and Shelagh of this on another thread. His deleted signature was the same old crap about a publisher that we have all heard before.

When I look in the mirror, I see a face that has revealed: Love, hate,
sorrow, fear, excitement, sadness, longing, happiness and joy.
The face that showed these expressions has become lined with use. That face has been exposed to thousands, perhaps millions of people, on several continents. When I look hard enough, I can see that young innocent kid that my childhood pictures show. I don’t have to look too hard to see an even older person that resembles my father.

It’s the only face I have. What other people see when they look at me tells them how I feel. The facial expression may lie from time to time, but the eyes reveal the truth.

Do I like what I see? Yes and no.

Dick, I won't take sides. It is impossible for me as a moderator to like all the members here equally but I do have to keep an open mind. This is the internet: a place to meet and exchange ideas. Everyone steps out of line now and again -- even me (although I am perfect when I look in the mirror NOT) -- and even the worst amongst us can turn out to be not so bad as we first thought. If I can show tolerance to Chris, then no one else needs to fear that they will be unfairly treated. Very Happy

PostSubject: Re: LOOK IN THE MIRROR   LOOK IN THE MIRROR EmptyTue Feb 24, 2009 11:01 am

It's your decision. How do you feel about Turkel's original signature on this thread that began "PublishAmerica is a vanity press" and went on to say more? That was the first post after the original post by Nutter, who has two books with PA. What possible purpose was there in that signature other than to cause trouble? And who made it, a complete loser who has done nothing. Then he lacks the courage to keep it there and deletes it.
He made a mortal enemy of me, and I mean that, when he referred to me as a coward on another thread. My credentials are pretty good in that respect, but who knows about his?
I won't let up on him even though he is bad for my blood pressure. That PA stuff can be deadly for a board and there is no excuse for it. The idiot Turkel doesn't realize, or doesn't care, that a number of people on this board have gone on to other things with other publishers. Does anyone here care about his opinion of PA? Has he said one thing that hasn't been heard before over and over again?
Freedom of speech is fine until it becomes harrassment or just obnoxious.

No problem Dick, personally I do not care about people’s opinions about publishers. It is true I do have two books published with PA. I published with PA because in lieu of a vanity press I had neither the time or the money and maybe not the talent to pursue one of the big publishing houses. PA filled a need and helped me realize a goal. You can call me a writer, a hack or an author but I prefer to be called A. W. The rest does not define me or my character. I enjoy people remarks regarding looking in the mirror. Sometimes one needs to take a good long look at ones self.

Anyone who accuses you of being a coward is more to be pitied. I wonder what challenges Chris faced at the age of nineteen compared to you at that age, three thousand miles away from home in a foriegn country, surrounded by Germans whose sole intent was to blow you to pieces.

The first time I visited Malta, I was amazed by the respect and love shown to Brits, who are not exactly popular on mainland Europe. Hitler had given orders to sink the island and wipe it off the face of the Earth. The Brits saved the island and the islanders never forgot. The same is true of all the American troops who set Europeans free fom the tyranny of occupation. Chris doesn't understand and will never know that love and respect. You earned it. Without you and thousands more like you the world would be a very different place.

Chris should read Normandy 1944 A Young Rifleman's War. He might learn something.

LOOK IN THE MIRROR Empty
PostSubject: Re: LOOK IN THE MIRROR   LOOK IN THE MIRROR EmptyTue Feb 24, 2009 4:52 pm

Shelagh, I once visited the Isle of Malta Milk, which, as you know, is an island off the coast of New Aukland that is inhabited by gay people. One of them just won the Oscar at the Oscar Award Show in Hollywood, CA. His name, I believe, was Arvy. I was not particularily awed by this Isle, and I left it posthaste. I hope that means quickly.

But, good friends and neighbors, on to the subject of this thread. When I look in the mirror, I see the same face as I use in this avatar. That is the photo that I have pasted at the left side of this post. Of course, I realize that it was me about 15 years ago, and that I have since gotten better looking and even sexier, but still, I see that face and I wonder what happened to him. He was carefree and filled with carefreeness and freecareness and such, and loved life and living and walking to the outhouse on a cold winter morning. The man in this avatar was a rake and a rounder, a man who loved cards and women and 14 carat gold. Wait a minute, I think I mistakenly posted the words to a song I once wrote. Let me try again. The man in this avatar has an evil glint in his eye. Take a closer look and you will see it. It was there for a purpose. I simply don't recall what that purpose was.

I am now much older, much grayer, much wrinkledler, much less glinting of eye and rakish of the way I looked into the camera. I don't recall who took the picture, but I do recall that I felt good about myself that night, and to tell the truth, most of the time I still do.

Other than when someone tries to make me book another trip to the Isle of Malta Milk.

Tally ho!

When I run on the beach, I am still who I was, young and free.

When I look in the mirror, I don't recognize who I see. It's a stranger who looks entirely different; yet, thinks and acts like me.

Actually, she doesn't always act like me anymore either. She's more forgetful but also more forgiving.

Thats a good one Charlie. ..As for me, when I look into the mirror, I see a man who's tide has come in and gone out many times in the past, but will come and go many more times until it finally comes in once and for all. Kind of like the tides of the ocean.
