I remember being around 9 and laying on the grass in my Michigan backyard looking up at the clouds and seeing a whole world float by - from circus trains to old men with beards and animals enough to fill a zoo. The memory is clear as a bell, even to the swing set nearby, the swings rocking a bit in the breeze. And lilacs formed a fence on the back of the property line with a space between them and the fence, with big purple blossoms.

Beautiful memory, DK, complete with aroma. There are smells that take me back to childhood. I think the only sense I have left that really works is my sense of smell. There was a cone shaped flower from the meadows of my youth that was so pungent and beautiful. The color of that flower is still in my mind. A kind of purple bouganvilla color. My sisters said it was possum poop. I believed it was the flower. I wish lilacs grew here.
